Men in crypto less attractive to women than cosplayers, anime buffs: Survey

Women perceive crypto as one of the most unattractive hobbies a man can have, even more so than watching anime, cosplaying or reading comic books, according to a recent survey.

Crypto was seen as the ninth-most unattractive hobby for males, the Aug. 24 survey by the Date Psychology blog found, which was a convenience sample of 814 people, 48% of which were female.

The authors noted that based on past surveys, their sample population disproportionately includes women of “high social status,” with a high level of education and who are predominately white.

Female respondents were asked if they found a list of 74 hobbies either “attractive” or “unattractive.” Only 23.1% said crypto was an attractive hobby, while around a third found comic books and cosplaying attractive.

It left crypto as the second-most unattractive so-called “nerd” hobby to women — behind collecting products from Funko, which makes pop culture and media-based bobblehead figures.

It seems some men haven’t received the memo yet.

When male respondents were asked which hobbies they thought females would find attractive, 13.7% believed women would be attracted to men in crypto.

However, most men responded that they thought women would find playing an instrument the most attractive hobby, and they were right.

The results show that females thought reading was the most attractive hobby for a man (98.2%), followed by knowing or learning a foreign language (95.6%) and playing an instrument (95.4%).

They added that despite the survey results, hobbies should be based on what a person enjoys, and those choosing hobbies based on what others find attractive are unlikely to stick with them.

The latest survey results come after an April 2023 Pew Research poll of 10,701 United States adults, including 5,936 women, found women were more skeptical of investing in, trading or using crypto than men.

Just 10% of women in that survey had ever traded, used or invested in crypto, compared to 25% of surveyed men.

Of the women who had ever used crypto, nearly 40% responded that they don’t hold crypto anymore, compared to around 30% of men who used and sold it.

That sounds like they want a gay man.
They don't know what they want and what they want always changes. That's why they date you when you're Chad, break you into ideal Husband-mode, and then cheat on you because you're not the same anymore and they miss Chad. And it's all because when they're 21-30 they want the bad boy. At 31-35 they want to marry the bad boy. At 36-50 they feel old and ugly and want to feel young and pretty again.

Notice how none of those things actually revolve around you in particular. They're just roles for you to play. They don't give a flying fuck about YOU or your wants and needs. Just their wants and needs. Learn how to identify these women, dump them, refuse to date them, and leave them to die alone with their cats like they fucking deserve.

Average women are self absorbed and dont care about what men like, news at 11
You should like your woman first of all. Women know full well that when a man says he's into anime, she'll be a distant fourth to his waifu, his cumsock, and his tranny boyfriend, and "cosplay" stands for "gamer girl bath water".

Your significant other will always be "a distant second." This is because staring at and obsessing over your partner will never be as engaging as whatever passions or hobbies you've been accruing for the past twenty or thirty-ish years.

If King of the Hill still existed, there would be an aesop episode where Peggy realizes making Hank choose between her and his lawn, propane sales or fixing stuff is completely unfair. Demanding people throw facets of their life into a furnace to appease someone who can just decide to leave is idiotic. Remember when relationships were partnerships and not ego death?

"I want a rich man. BUT NOT LIKE THAT"
I never seen irl rich crypto bro .
I was on a date a few weeks ago and she started bitching about how men with gym selfies, and hunting/fishing pics on Tinder gave her the "ick" and how she doesn't want to see "your dead animals."
?
And then everyone clapped

So women think nerd shit is unattractive

They also think stereotypical macho shit is unattractive.

Wtf do women want exactly?
They don't know. Their latent hysteria combined with social media has confused them

Women in my experience almost always have no hobbies pet hoarding or plant hoarding doesn't count and neither do quartz crystals or tarot so the fuck do they know about giving opinions on them?

I've been out of the dating game a while, but hear me out.

Any computer related hobby to me when I was looking was a red flag for me. I know not everyone into gaming is a turbo autist dog fucker , but it was an indicator of a basement dweller and almost all of the male cows on this site have computer related hobbies. Not everyone who plays D&D is a neon haired transexual, but every neon haired transexual I've met really loves D&D.

I didn't know any guys into anime or cartoons, but I would have likewise taken that as a red flag for the same reasons. If you're giggling over anime, that's fine, but you're probably not on the same wavelength as me.

All of the other hobbies on that list except reading have the turbo autist flag about them. No drive, social awkwardness. Not a bad thing, but it's not something that's generally attractive in the same way other qualities are.

A flag isn't a deal breaker, but it is something I did frequently use to narrow the field. I have met guys with Star Wars collections that weren't freaks, but I know more who had varying degrees of issues.

Different women want different things. Try and lump everyone into one single category and all you'll do is create an absolute clusterfuck of contradictions because different people have different tastes.

Furthermore, what exactly does finding a hobby unattractive mean? Notice the phrasing of the article seems to imply the respondents had a negative perception of certain hobbies, when the question seemed to be whether or not they viewed it as an overt plus. Is it really that surprising that women on average are going to be less interested in men with hobbies that women on average are less interested in?

A nice, succinct prose on why women are stupid and broken

Obviously, as thr above posters demonstrated, the only good not red flag male hobby is being a wallet that walks and carries bags.
I mean, if you want examples. Generalising, mostly from me but a smattering of things I've been told other people like about their partners.

Any sort of creative skill. Painting, woodwork, writing. Genuinely, someone with a passion can be interesting to listen to. And some do just generally have a thing for the arty types. Practical hobbies likewise go down well, not only are they useful but there is just something very...I don't know, masculine about them. The article mentioned the ability to play music, and they're right.

Someone with a range of experiences. Well travelled, well read, polyglots. New experiences are fun, and someone who is well rounded and can show you new things can be interesting.

Athletic hobbies. Gym bros are an exception here, they can easily become turbo autists more interested in what guys think of their gains and I know no women interested in steroid monsters, but men in shape are attractive. Go figure. I'd say this is the weakest, because being nice to look at is only engaging for so long, so you might still find some giving sports a thumbs down. A good initial hook, but one that will diminish without others.

The more I think about it, sometimes it's not even the hobby itself. It's the image of who does the hobby. There's plenty of "normies" in some hobbies, but the hobbies people don't like are often undertaken by lolcows.

Men are every bit as dismissive of women who do or don't do certain things, and some skills we may or may not know have an impact on how we're seen just as often.

Crypto as a tech and payment method is fine, but when someone lists crypto as a hobby they really mean shitposting on Reddit and gambling trading.
What about mlp? I can't think of a more deranged hobby than being a brony.
Most women probably aren't even that bronies are a thing that exists. I mean when would a brony even get the chance to interact with a woman?

KotH has to be one of the best shows for properly and accurately written middle age relationships.
