I have no trouble believing that Drexel harbours genuine concern for Kayla and the Rekieta kids and is appalled at what Cuckieta has done to both of them, as Cuckieta pursues his insane Libertine lifestyle.
I'll give Drexel the minimum credit of...caring about children not being abused. Lmao
Drex hadn't been to visit the Rekietas for a long time prior to all of this. People noticed it and kept mentioning it as Nick's decline became increasingly evident. When Drex mentioned the planned intervention he said that people had been contacting him about Nick. That suggests he didn't keep up with what was going on with Nick after cutting contact.
I doubt that Drexel will provide a detailed explanation of exactly when and why he cut contact with Nick but whatever made him distance himself clearly happened long before this.
As many others have mentioned, Drex is vehemently anti-drug so that is one thing he didn't enable.
It doesn't matter whether or not he had an intervention planned. The rift in his friendship with Nick clearly happened long before Nick's arrest. His absence from Rekieta world was noticed and commented on here long before Nick's arrest.
According to Nick (yes I know, not a trustworthy source), Drexel and Nick hadn't been speaking to each other for months because of how busy they were with the school year, and because Drexel and his daughter live a distance away from Nick. He (Drex) was going to show up at Nick's house for Memorial Day weekend, but then Nick got arrested. He probably was concerned with his deterioration but wasn't sure what it was, because as far as he knew, the only thing Nick was consuming was alcohol. Do I think Drexel has interacted with drug abusers? Probably. Does that mean he knows exactly what combination of drugs someone is abusing? Probably not. But he probably knows that someone who is only using alcohol doesn't act the same as someone who is abusing alcohol with something else. We know Drexel is anti-drug but I think if Nick told him he was struggling with drugs that Drexel would want to help him, but that won't happen, because Nick never struggles with anything (lmao).
I recall Drexel once saying something on stream with Nick hinting that Kayla was unhappy and that Nick should do something about it, which seemed to indicate that Kayla talked to Drex whereas I had pretty much assumed that she was a third wheel when Drexel and Nick were together.
This is where I think Drexel was mad at being lied to. He was probably told by Nick that everything was "fine" with Kayla, only for him to find out that Nick is a fucking cuckold swinger who (at the very least, but not a comprehensive list) let someone like Aaron nut in her while he watched. For all his weird standards, sex shit is the thing that gives Drexel the most pause: just look at how he reacted when he heard about Dax Herrera dressing like a cow and getting pegged. It was the pegging of all shit that concerned him, not Dax being a colossal piece of shit in basically every aspect of his life.
Nick being into weird sex shit that Drex participates in (as the bull, not the cuck) and lying to him probably made him lose massive amounts of respect for him, because he doesn't respect any of the people who are into the swinging/cuck shit. How would Nick be able to explain how someone like Aaron has nudes of Kayla to Drexel without admitting that Kayla was probably having sex with him as well? Drexel might be a dumbass but I don't think he's a complete idiot. I don't think he would accept any explanation from Nick as to how Aaron would get such an image unless Kayla (or Nick) gave it to him personally, and we know Kayla and Nick tried to file revenge porn charges against Aaron. Everything Drexel has been shown (including the personal testimony from Aaron, which Drexel does know enough about to say that Aaron is a weirdo) seems to indicate at the very least that he knows Nick is sharing his wife with other men and Nick wants to pretend he's not. At some point you just get fed up with people who are caught dead to rights for doing something weird and you actively harbor disdain for them when they try to argue anything but the obvious. Or at least I do.
AND THEN it turns out that Nick's drug abuse and pathetic cuck shit was causing him and Kayla to neglect their children, and I think that was the final straw for Drexel. Weird sex shit is already bad enough for Drexel, but it gets even worse when it causes his kids misery. Drexel sees Nick obviously fucked out of his mind on substances (And he should know, because he's dealt with Nick when he's sober, so he should obviously recognize when Nick is not sober), he finds out Nick is sharing his wife with random weirdos, and the substance abuse and weird sex shit is causing his children to suffer, and Nick tries to argue, "We're just fine, actually I don't want to acknowledge any kind of substance was ever even found in my house." I wouldn't believe him and I've never met Nick in person (nor do I want to). If Nick is willing to lie about drug use when it's very obviously happening, and he's willing to lie about being a cuckold when it's obviously happening, is it really a stretch to assume Nick is also willing to lie about abusing his children via neglect when it's very obviously happening?
Nick tries so fucking hard to talk like an attorney to normal people that he doesn't realize normal people don't fucking like when it happens. Watching someone you respected blatantly lie to your face about the obvious because they insist on speaking like an attorney to normal people, I'm genuinely surprised Drexel didn't go to Nick's house and beat the shit out of him. If Drexel did even half the shit Nick did, he'd have lost custody of his daughter, because he doesn't have the privilege of having earned seven figures from Youtube and a trust fund that's been subsidizing his mediocrity for over a decade.
