Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

You clearly didn't watch The Clone Wars, chud. The clones are all special unique snowflakes and totally aren't cannon fodder. The Republic also won every battle they got into because the bad guys are all hilariously incompetent.
Ah yes, the Filoni effect. Way to make your heroes' battles completely moot because the bad guys would've shot themselves in the foot even if the good guys took a coffee break.

At this point, killing the bad guys isn't heroism, it's glorified euthanasia. You're killing the robot or Stormtrooper equivalent of Jar-Jar before he accidentally kills himself with his clumsiness.

(Also, I don't think Republic Commando, literally my favorite thing to come out of this stupid franchise, is cannon anymore :()
The books, or the game? The former is a hilarious joke, the latter is a masterpiece.

That just doesn't work, though. Nothing in the OT suggests that he's gay, and he even had a wife and a mistress in the expanded universe lore.

Making him gay is like making Samus Aran or Ellen Ripley into a man, just because you can do it, doesn't mean you should.
I remember that Daala slept with him in the EU, forgot that he had a wife.

Though if Tarkin was gay, it makes a funny “you may fire when ready” joke.

Ya know I feel I have already done enough damage to the thread bringin up how they made Tarkin gay to those who didnt know or who were lucky enough to have forgotten, but I feel its my duty to also inform you that they made Bea Arthur's character from the Star Wars Holiday Special a 100% canon diesel dyke too...

That's probably half the reason they did it. So they can make that joke.

The game obviously. I like darker stories.

I tried to read the books when I was younger but I stopped when I saw it was just a relationship drama.
The game fits well with military sci-fi, but the books felt like a soap opera for cat ladies who have a bone to pick with hippies.

I'm not that shocked at all.........

the latter can get flattened by two Acclamator-class Troop Transports, as was shown in the Republic Commando game where a Lucrehulk got destroyed because it chose to stand its ground against two of those aforementioned Acclamators
It's been like 15 years since I played Republic Commando, but I always got the impression that was an unrefitted TPM era freighter-battleship hybrid that got wacked. Between the walloping the Lucrehulks in the start of ROTS were taking (shields visibly lighting up under Republic fire, incredibly rare to see in Star Wars) and this line from the ROTS incredible cross sections book (a "flotilla" of Venators is needed to break through their shields quickly, however many ships a flotilla is) there's an implication those ships got a serious overhaul at some point during the war.

I don't know why I'm making this post, I guess I'm just autistic about ships and am incredibly disappointed by how poorly the Clone Wars was utilized as a setting after 2008 (thanks, Filoni).

"it's a century before the acolyte so it makes total sense everything's super generic scifi and looks nothing like star wars"
Also that second cover looks like it might have been heavily based on/traced off some anime thing. That specific shot looks eerily familiar in a way that's triggering something in my "guy who watched a lot of imported japanese shit in the 90s and 2000s as a kid" brain.

It screams "Utena" to me. While I didn´t find a specific image that could have been traced, it´s the combination of the building in the background and the two silhouettes, plus the fact that both have a same sex couple consisting of a light-skinned girl with longer pink hair (in an updo) and the dark-skinned girl with shorter air done up in curls.

I looked into it, the Star Wars essential atlas had a note that the known 50 million inhabited worlds amount to an approximately 100 quadrillion sentients. The average said is 2 billion for a planet, which I find reasonable since we rarely see Kowloon city type stuffing of aliens like they are sardines.

Other sources give this as the size of the (Pre Empire?) Republic.

So even if we take the 100 quadrillion as the Republic and not the known space population, that would still be 0.1 quintrillion.

Imagine if the US would have to supply around ten billion soldiers overnight.

With Disney I imagine the worlds are an order of magnitude smaller because Filoni's heroes must win battles,

So 3 quintillion is way too large and 3 million is way too small.
We also need to consider that its just 1 planet making them, and Kamino was mostly ocean. Which is the bigger restriction, and I would venture that a 3 billion would be feasible. Also remember that Jedi aren't that numerous and are officers.

In the prequel movies and the original Non-Filoni clone wars the individual clones had small differences personality wise, enough to be their own guys but not overdo it. usually shown with just how they handle stuff because well I mean their whole existence is "born and raised in clone labs on kamino to die in a fucking war they didn't ask to be a part of" so they're gonna act like soldiers. It's kind of close to stuff like Samus from Metroid where it's "Character who's got a job and is mostly silent but you get a bit of dialogue once and a while". Ironically both have a similar visor on their helmets.
This guy that apparently keeps getting re and de-canonized on and off since the Disney buyout is a pretty good example. Usually these trooper guys would probably finish their whole message but he just like abruptly stops mid-distress call to brutalize the droids killing his comrades. There's also another moment I can't find the full unedited bit of where his ship gets shot down and he then just leads his guys silently via hand signals alone for a little.

EDIT: ok I just checked wookiepedia again and while Itchy aint been molested yet they have canonically made lumpy a femboy who hates white people
That's no femboy... It's a soyboy, Manbun and all. Literally just add glasses and you'll see it. That's right, he's the only thing worse than a femboy...
he's a Californian Bugman.

"imperial inhibitor chips"...
So they expanded the shitty clone trooper brain chip retcon to stormtroopers now? LAME. So much for "Join the empire Today" shit if true.

Didn't she have like a weird kinda vaguely implied romantic thing going on with the hole head guy she talks to for a bit in the OG special?

Not the ones I was thinking of it possibly aping off, but maybe it is, considering that's like become the go to for visual rips by these incestuous media types for some reason the last decade.

Honestly the thing that bugs me the most is the idea of an army of clones is really fucking interesting. They're literally faceless soldiers. There's a lot you can say and do with the idea, that's frankly ruined by making them too unique.

Tartakovsky's Clone Wars is a gem.

I don't know much about this Acolyte business or if Kathleen Kennedy is going to be fired. I just want to grill and listen to some good music.

Weird Al just released a bunch of AI-upscaled music videos and The Saga Begins was included. It's probably the best Star Wars media to come out in the last 25 years. Now we need him to make a parody of the Fagolyte.

We also need to consider that its just 1 planet making them
Kamino was quickly joined by other planets producing clones, mostly using faster cloning methods, which is part of why the war ramped up 4 months, 10 months, and 18 months in, as more and more clones got pumped out. It's also worth noting that the clones weren't the ones garrisoning friendly planets, with the exception of high-value targets like Coruscant, Alsakan, or Carida, and that was handled by planetary militias, system/sector defense forces, and sometimes corporations or the militarized Republic Judiciary forces.

The Separatists also used native forces, see the Nimbus Commandos, but they also had a lot more troops to spare for backline duty.

I've never actually heard quadrillions for the clones, but billions or even a handful of trillions seem reasonable, since the absolute lowest number of droids I've heard is hundreds of billions.

Also also the Imperial Military was orders of magnitude larger than the Grand Army of the Republic, since it included conscripts, volunteers, clones from multiple templates, and droids. That's probably where the quadrillions number is coming from.

I would put billions in for Kamino. Trillions seem reasonable as in the Republic could support it. That said the droids could have been the standard B-1 Roger Roger-s, who aren't really that dangerous, and I am not sure that the take that a clone is worth multiples of them is that ridiculous. The Super battle droids and droidekas and Filoni's commando droids are a different matter of course.

I think with B2s it's more a matter of casualties than individual clone vs individual droid, since they have to be refitted/rearmed to effectively fill different roles. BXs are such a boring solution to the CIS not having special forces (even though they did with A1 Assassin droids B1 snipers, not to mention their organics), but they consistently outdo Magnaguards on screen; just another Filoni OC supplanting something that should have been cool and intimidating.

Considering the republic became the empire it makes sense a majority of the republic's armed forces carry over.

Them being mostly identical at a glance but having unique names and personality differences that are only shown not told in exposition was one of the cooler parts of the pre-filoni pre-disney star wars, as I've already stated lmao. Now you unironically have shit like the "canon trans girlboss clone trooper named sister who has the trans flag as their color scheme" as a result of the constantly sliding into shit poorly thought out oc-ness of it all. Pride flags aren't even a fucking thing in star wars, they got too many ayys to give a shit if someone's gay or a tranny or not.

"Character who's got a job and is mostly silent but you get a bit of dialogue once and a while". Ironically both have a similar visor on their helmets.
Well Genndy Tartakovsky has always been great at dialogue light storytelling, Primal being the most extreme example as it has no dialogue at all, but easy to follow.

I think canon has overwritten the crowded legends galaxy with an extremely sparse galaxy.

EA’s Battlefront 2 is expressly canon and one of the Imperial Officer’s lines was something like “ten thousand systems depend on us!” If a system has an average of one habitable world with 2 billion people, you’re looking at a galactic population of ~20 trillion.
