My best friend has played dota casually for over 7 years. He can't tell you what heroes are meta atm and I constantly have to tell him item builds (like getting sange and yasha on bristle for increased movement and healing amp for bloodstone's spell lifesteal). Meanwhile, this fucker who played it casually is spitting insane meta facts out "This card was released for this event and all players hated it" "This event was bugged and everyone got this card from free" "this card is good for beginners but falls off late game".
He's playing and researching this shit nonstop.
The fucking wild thing about this, is he really isn't all that knowledgeable about this game.
Now before you all call me felted or whatever. I literally know how to tell if someone knows something or not. I have a fancy piece of paper that says a bunch of people agree, I am fairly competent at telling if someone has learned something. And by the end you will know how too.
The punchline is, it is being able to teach someone the subject at hand. And Phil can't even explain this game satisfactorily. It is actually shameful for something he plays literally every single day.
Like, I am a sweaty try hard gamer right. So being able to list whats good and bad is like my day 1 of learning a game. Like if it is something I want to be sweaty at, I am going to immediately look at what people are using. What they used to use. Absorb a few articles on the state of the meta and then go from there.
What Phil didn't do, and it was pissing me off, is tell me why something is good or why it is shitty hue hue hue. And like if you really know your shit you can do that. I can do that for Yugioh and I only really played that for a year. The only things I have the kind of experience he does is Warhammer and Magic. And even then I never played them seven years straight. And I could, and do bore people to death on telling you if a card or model is bad just on reading. Like Yugioh I can only really tell you why a deck is good or bad if I played it or against it. And some vagaries about other decks. But Magic? You can toss me any card and I'm like oh yeah this only works if you are trying to do this and even then I have three better cards for you.
What I am trying to say is despite everything Phil only has a level 1 knowledge of this game. And thats really really sad.
My favorite line was "the internet will fund my defense", I mean if you want to talk about somebody smelling their own farts and liking it. He thinks he's famous and the whole internet is on his side now. Holy shit how can somebody be so delusional so quickly?
Hearing that made me full on MATI. This nigger has spent 15 years bawling, that he has been judged guilty in the court of public opinion without a trial. Even longer when you factor in his FGC rants. Hell even his weirdo incel rants. His whole life has been at the mercy of public opinion and its bullshit.
So now that he thinks he has it on his side, does he understand the ways it can ruin people and that it is a terrible tool to be used as a bludgeon? Fuck no. Bludgeoning time for Phil. All while fall!
