Tales of Kenzera: Zau is the most recent prior example of the same thing. The statement whining about hatred was made by a celebrity and coincided with a 25% discount, making the play pretty obvious but it still was touted by a number of games websites. The studio that made it laid-off a dozen employees within a month of that statement which comprised 25% of the studios workforce at a minimum.

Still while Tales of Kenzera's whining got it to a number of websites including IGN, so far only PC Gamer and Kotaku have posted articles about Dustborn's statement so far. Given that IGN gave Dustborn the website header for several days and quickly gave Kenzera's statement slavish coverage, it seems like they can sense which way the wind is blowing on this one.
