Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

Since Black Ops II, orange is the staple color for the Black Ops series. I think Cold War is the exception.
Which I got, because those games took place in the future.

It's not so much the orange, just the whole aesthetic. I don't get WTF they are going for, especially since Cold War was different and took place in a time period.

I was popping off today. Went positive almost every match. (I think I went negative only once or twice)

Found out they updated the profanity filters. My clan tag used to be FKTTV. It randomly disappeared and now when I try to put it back in I get the profanity warning. Damn troons at it again.

Omni Movement is actually pretty fun. I'm trying to get the hang of it, but it's like Cold War and Max Payne fucked. Each of the three maps is great with Skyline actually having map interaction that makes for objective modes being real fun. (One room has two security consoles around the map that activate a panic mode and lock down several entrances and windows. )

The fucking sniper I've been using is really fun and each of the operators is unique, but I'm still staying Brutus and Adler. Having play of the game come back is great, and all the sound design is great.

We've reached the

I'm thinking we're back

Part of the cycle.

i played the Beta quite a bit, im enjoying the multiplayer so far but the Omni Movement is going to take getting used to, especially with the amount of tryhard teenagers that learn the movement within 3 minutes of playing and just slideshot you or whatever, its for sure a higher skill gap then most CoDs ill give them that
I enjoy the mechanics of the game and I find playing warzone to be fun but, the amount of Mexicans/Niggies/white trash with open, blown out, Walmart mics is insane.

I feel genuine disgust when I come up to a building and I hear jibbering Spanish and TV noise coming through the walls.
thats why I almost always play on mute, even annoying minorities aside half of the mics you even get are shit 20 dollar mics from gamestop or whatever, ive gotten into quite a few arguments back in the day because I called peoples mics shit.

I love how useful diving actually is now. In previous games it was so sluggish and you dropped like a sack of potatoes, leaving you open to get shot. While more realistic, it felt like shit. in Blops 6 I've been having so much fun just diving out windows, around corners, and even diving into other players as we desperately shoot at each other on the floor like it's a John Woo movie. It's great.

The human shield mechanic has been pretty fun too. Opening the mics between people is hilarious and it decreases bullet spread on your gun so you can really mow down the other team if you're in the right position. Just wish it wasn't so janky. You have to double tap the melee button to start it and I feel like half the time I just end up punching them in the back of the head and it doesn't work.

For people who think the omni movement is a novel concept, reminder that Max Payne 3 came out over 10 years ago and also had a multiplayer mode. I really miss that game, it had a small multiplayer community but it was damn fun while it lasted.

I don't pay attention to the COD news that much anymore, but I've seen mention of people being disappointed with the new zombies map. Can I have the cliffnotes on that?

The map is too bright, despite liberty falls being one of two maps. It's just cod YouTube being cod YouTube.

Are they really complaining that a Zombies map is too bright? That was never an issue before. There has to be more to this, especially since Zombies youtube scene is pretty much dead after Vanguard. I'm curious who is left to even care or put out content at this point.

Human shields have proximity chat. Wow, that's cool. You could literally beam others unlucky enough to cross your path. You can take out an enemy in seconds with that mechanic. However, utilizing it is a pain itself. Holding down the melee button typically assassinates them, double tapping melee just melees them twice. I don't think there's a tutorial or setting for human shields.

Have you seen it in a first person shooter before?

Yes, since Advanced Warfare let you dash in any direction, including up, and that game released about 10 years ago now. I still stand that this game had better Advanced Movement than Black Ops 3 and Infinite Warfare as well. Max Payne 3 would still have been more entertaining if the servers were online, you could make some crazy combos with the right equipment or Burst(let's not forget you could actually still use Bullet Time in that game's multiplayer as well). With COD you know exactly what you are going to get, altho I will admit human shields are a new one for me. That totally won't be used by griefers or hackers, I am sure.

I'd love to play the shopping center map, if it wasn't added into the beta map rotation already.

General complaints I've heard are:
  • too bright (did anyone have an issue with Outbreak being bright? go outside faggot, at least open the curtains every once in a while)
  • too large (map intended for beginners and casual play)
  • too easy (same as above)
  • "too Warzone" (Warzone is cancer, yes, but it didn't fuck your mom)
  • too plain/soulless (everything related to easter egg quests was disabled for CoD Next, including areas)
  • no story (same as above)
  • PaP is too easy to get (same as above)
  • forcefield barriers make no sense as doors/debris (failed lockdown by Richtofen's men, a man capable of manufacturing the Wunderwaffe)
  • Aetherella in the comic store makes it confusing as to whether the public is aware of zombies/the Dark Aether (hopefully explained once the game's out?)
Milo (MrRoflwaffles) made a good point -- CoD Next showed too little for too long. If this much was gonna be unavailable, they should've gated the showcase to 20 rounds, then force an exfil. When a drooling CoD player sees a skilled player do 50+ rounds for an hour in only the default state of the map (no easter eggs done, etc.), he'll start asking questions, even if they're very retarded.

There is a setting in input options that lets you swap the input between body shielding and executions (not like you should ever want to bother doing an execution by itself). I'd screenshot which option it is if I could, but the PC Xbox app is really dogshit as far as downloads/updates go.

As far as Zombies goes, Steam string leaks include hints on what the first DLC map will be (Janus Towers?), and signs of Grief mode (PvP zombies) returning from BO2, as well as a potential classic mode, whatever that means.

I'm going to wait to see how the campaign is before jumping on it tbh.
