I feel like it's more a matter of the person using it but it does seem to have some properties that affect certain folk in a harmful way. I know it can trigger certain disorders like schizophrenia to emerge and make it worse.
It's not some cornerstone of my personality and I don't feel like it's some perfect drug, but I don't see why it is viewed as some horrible thing while so much of the population is on some form of anxiety med or antidepressant. The way I view it, I'm an adult with a steady job and money to support myself who understands the "risks" of it, so it's a small vice I choose to engage in. I like how it makes my body feel more than the headiness, but it definitely makes rewatching old TV more enjoyable.
Agreed. I can afford a half a pound a month. I purchase an ounce. At least half of that gets smoked communally. I'm a grown ass adult who can afford a much more expensive habit than I have, who likes to get ripped and work on my house, fix stuff, build stuff, ride a dirt bike, or sit on my patio or deck and read a book. I handle my shit,I pay my bills, I have nice things, and I'm respectful of my neighbors when I smoke. 420 blazeits give us a bad name. It's my only libation. I partied too much when I was under 21 to even think about drinking now, and one beer will get me buzzed.

What shows did it steamroll out of a time slot? Tom and Jerry reruns?

When Captain Planet debut, all TBS played was Loony Toons, Flintstones, and Tom and Jerry reruns. The only "mature" shit TBS aired was the G-Force cut of Gatchaman and even THAT only ran five episodes before being taken off the air in 1987.

Hell, Swat katz, Dexters Lab, and Two Stupid Dogs didn't debut until after Captain Planet ended. And a case can be made they only even existed because Captain Planet turned a profit to justify TBS investing into more original programming.
There is a distinct possibility my "Fuck Ted Turner" spiel might just be due to malding as a lad and lumping him in with the jack thompsons of the world at the time and my memory being anachronistic and imperfect here. But at the same time even with renewed context still fuck Ted Turner for creating CNN.

"I was wrong but I remembered another reason" is my kamala flip flop on the subject and I will not budge. :smug:

"keep families small" is classic anti-nigger messaging. White families don't shit out litters of kids like rats, unlike pakis, indians and niggers.
In the 1970s, the modal desired number of children for Americans was four.

I went to Catholic school when I was in my Captain Planet days. Believe me, a lot of religious white families heard the propaganda loud and clear. And the school never bothered to tell us anything against it, I heard all about overpopulation and small family sizes from social studies lessons there.

The families they showed us for their propaganda pieces were all white.

What about that show, 2.4 children? 2.4 being the average amount of kids white americans had.

They will show white people while talking about small families. Showing a gaggle of niglets while mentioning depopulation would be racist. The message is the same though; fewer nogs and spics is good.

This assumes two things.

1) Niggers are smart enough to internalize that messaging when it's not one of their own on the screen (spoiler alert: they aren't)

2) That the people pushing the messaging agree (spoiler alert: they do not, they think spics in particular are much more easily controllable)

Bongland show, don't know anything about that. But the number of kids Americans had and the number they wanted have been different for some time. In the 70s, in spite of the modal desired number of children being 4, more families actually had 3.

In burgerland schools that were 90% white we heard this stuff all day long, so your idea does not really hold. The idea that somehow white children would magically know "oh, this message is not for me" is stupid.

In fact, because of how anti-eugenics teachers and teachers' colleges were in the 1980s-90s, there were plenty of majority-black schools where the anti-overpopulation messaging was simply not taught. I saw this firsthand with schools where people close to me taught, that were extremely "difficult" inner-city schools full of free-lunch-receiving black kids. They genuinely did not get the "keep your family small" propaganda. It always seemed weird to me back then, but was explained to me as being all about making sure black people didn't think we were trying to genocide them via contraception. No joke.

That's the political atmosphere a lot of burger kids from the heartland were raised in. The notion that what was taught in schools was actually secretly anti-black, anti-Hispanic propaganda intended to bring about a whiter nation is head-scratching and bears no relationship to any facts in evidence.

I think the reason the pendulum is swinging back on abortion is that it's a lot easier to convince people of the value of "abortion on demand without apology" when your society has orphanages full of kids who cannot find a home.

Today, the number of waiting families is 20x higher than the number of adoptable children in the system. That includes all the theoretically adoptable kids who are vegetative or otherwise have zero quality of life due to severe and life-limiting disabilities. The idea that "if you're willing to take any race, any sex, and a bit older, you'll have no trouble" is a 1990s pipe dream now. If you want to adopt in a short time, you either need beaucoup cash or be willing to take a child with severe emotional problems who can't be around other children and will require you to hide your household's knives and scissors.

In that kind of environment, the idea I heard so much in the 1990s... "if evangelicals hate abortion so much, are they going to adopt all the kids that result if we ban it?" ... just holds no water. The system could tolerate a huge influx of new adoptable infants before any would languish in an orphanage. I get that adoption is very hard on birth mothers. But I also think we're still animals and we react subconsciously to population cues. Abortion, and even infanticide, has been generally socially tolerated in cultures where the lives of unwanted infants were horrific. That is no longer the world we live in, and society is reckoning with how to respond to that.

People largely don't even know "how bad things really are" on this front. They think people wanting to adopt are being picky-wicky like a kid who wants tendies instead of organic broccoli. But if you are hooked into the kind of religious circles where people put their money where their mouth is and try to take in foster kids, you will see this arc play out on a regular basis:

1. "We have made the decision to open our home to a child in need. Pray for us as we begin this journey."

2. "We have received a placement! Thanks be to God! Young Kaylur, age 10, is excited to have his own room. Pray for us that the process goes smoothly and we can provide him with his forever home!"

3. (Various prayer requests having to do with social workers nickel and diming them over regulatory issues, ie, Kaylur has his own room but is require to share a bathroom, thus subsection 3.4.6 c requires that he be provided with 46.8 minutes of private bathroom time per diem and a standardized toothbrush meeting the specifications in subsection 5.8.6 d.)

4. (Optional "the family is trying to get him back, this is their 8th failed attempt so it probably won't work out, but we have to be in court a lot" arc.)

5. "Please pray for Kaylur as he is experiencing a litany of unspecified health issues" (mental).

6. Radio silence.

7. Physical absence from the community for a time.

8. "Please pray for [some female biological member of the household] as she is going through a rough time."

9. "Please pray for our family as we make some tough choices about what the right and godly next move will be for us."

10. Exeunt Kaylur. Awkward silence. Everyone kinda knows what happened.

I mean if you want to adopt a kid who is pre-trained to DV and rape like some springer spaniels come pre-trained to flush fowl from a bush...go for it.

Of all the people to choose, you went with bald fence sitter Tim Pool. You can edit anyone to make them look smart, dumb, good, or evil.
but he is a traitor democrat that changed allegiance from democrat to republican.

a funnier point would be why didn't kamala choose Nick F.

What happens if Kamala drops out of the race?
Imagine every atom in your body simultaneously exploding at the speed of light.

But in all seriousness: considering how fast they astroturfed Kamala immediately out of left field following Grandpa Joe's dropping, there's no reason for them not to do it again -- even so close to the election. It could be Walz, it could be Buttigieg, it could be your mom: the Dems would just prop up whomever is next in line, promote them as the next rising star on CNN/MSNBC/USA Today, get the Shareblue shills to pull double shifts pumping out the memes on Xitter and Preddit, and bingo: Kamala is memoryholed. The faggy coconut meme would evaporate and get replaced with some other artificial gay shit pulled out of their asses. We've always been at war with Eastasia.
