Everyone already said this, children do not give a single fuck about gender identity. While there might be that girl who prefers playing with toy guns instead of Barbie dolls, this has nothing to do with gender, but with personal preferences. Also, doctors do not have a wierd way of assigning gender, also you don't get a gender "assigned" to you, you are born with it based on whether your father's spermium carried a Y-chromosome or an X-chromosome (disregarding cases like Turner syndrome which occurs when the spermium carried no gender chromosome at all), and you need to be diagnosed with gender dysphoria to have it changed. Actually, a sex change is the treatment for said condition. You don't even truly change someone's gender with this, you just make them appear to look like the desired gender. Genetically, you'd still be what you were before the treatment.
