I watched Watership Down when I was about 8. People need to stop being pussies. Children could handle all kinds of movies and TV shows back then. So many people complained when Gremlins was released as a 15 instead of a PG in the UK. Children wanted to watch it but couldn't as movie age ratings are law here, not just a guideline. Although they've done some stupid things recently like raising Jaws from a PG to a 12A (when it's re-released in cinemas) and the DVD/Blu-Ray of it to a 15. I watched that when I was about 5 and loved t!

Watership down is such a great movie. I got more out of it as an adult than I did as a kid. The death scene at the end is really well done and not maudlin in the slightest.

It used to be that we weren't afraid to expose kids to death as long as it was shown to be part of the natural cycle of things. Hell, I used to love Charlotte's web when I was 8. I'd cry at the end when Charlotte dies but then it's followed by showing that one baby stays behind and befriends Wilbur and how Charlotte lives on through that. And you know what? Every time it was on TV, I'd still watch it knowing how it ends and that I was gonna cry. I'm not damaged because of it

I mean our childhood is littered with shitty moments in cartoons - Bambi's mom. Dumbo's mom. Yet these cartoons are beloved nonetheless. Secret of NIMH is dark as fuck and I made my mother bring me back to the theater to see it a second time.

Keep the kids infantilized until(and into) adulthood so they can play the part of parent sure is a terrifying path we're on. How many young adults don't know how to care for themselves and can't be bothered to look into how to say cook, and instead cry to mommy for help.

Seriously though, and I say this as a Gen Xer, I really feel that Gen X is the first generation to really hit the infantilization machine hard and it's been downhill for every generation after we set the example.

By the time Internet 2.0 hit and smartphones made the internet ubiquitous for normies, Gen Xers were in our 30s and 40s. Totally prime to get sucked into the nostalgia black hole. And boy did we ever. The internet makes it possible to create your own little bubble and populate it with whatever you want and just stay there.

Think about it - From the 70s to the 90s there's a ton of fads and changes in styles. In music, in TV, especially in fashion, in language. Now the same amount of time passed from 2000 to 2020. It's like the same thing for 20 years. That's because people have essentially frozen themselves in place by living in their bubbles so everything stops evolving.

I can't even bear to look at youtube. Any Gen Xer who gets a youtube channel, what's the first thing they create? Some variation of an 80s nostalgia channel. It's like the only thing they can think of to talk about. And the background is always wall to wall funko pops or collections of action figures from their childhood like star wars or he man or MASK or gi joe or whatever brand of hasbro/kenner crap is their security blanket.

Same reason I blame why movies and everything have gone to shit. Now Gen Xers are in their 50s and 60s. We're the CEOs and the heads of networks and film studios. And we're so fucking infantilized and stuck in our little nostalgia bubbles that all we can churn out is reboots of shit from our childhood. He man cartoons. Endless GI Joe and Marvel movies. Let's spit out more ghostbusters movies! Let's even latch on to smaller properties from our childhood like Jem! I mean, fuck, there's a Goonies sequel set for release next year. People complain that there's no originality coming out of pedowood, I'm pretty sure that my generation's obsession with their childhood and that all they can do is desperately try to recreate it, is probably a big factor.

Trump is already old and by 2028 he will be four years older. I feel like him being a teetotaler and rich will help him live a while yet and still enjoy his brain not being mush (barring outside establishment intervention), but I don't see him doing this shit for another 8 years at his age.
Therefore, Trump must spend the next eight years mentoring Barron as closely as possible and then change the rules related to age requirement to run. Vance can run in 2028 and then Barron ushers in Pax Americana in 2032.

It's actually the other way around. Multiple articles from sources in Chicago (1, 2, 3, 4) refer to it as an incident in a baseball game. It's the video from that news outlet that has it backwards but the pictures and everything else coincides. Still, I always try to check if it's true before posting it.
