This misses the point. It's legal to lobby politicians if you're open about it. It's not legal to broadcast media in the US on behalf of a foreign government AND cover it up. That's the law being broken here.

Putin is a chekist and most of their leadership is descended from members of the party. Their economy isn’t communist but they’re bitter about its failure. They also invented SJWism as a way to destabilize the West. The fact that American leftists hate them is kinda funny. But yeah their plan in Europe at least was to use radicals on either side of the political spectrum to destabilize the other countries then when they had control they’d eliminate them.
Prior to the invasion aid to Ukraine was largely from Trump and Republicans but since the war started after Biden’s blunder about us not really doing anything, it largely flipped. A lot of the left wing media hated them for being chuds for getting support from the American Nazis ie Republicans but they decided they were wholesome diversino defenders of democracy when they were supported by Biden’s family for some reason. You can also see that with Obama when he bombed a bunch of countries. The doves became even more hawkish than the republicans were under Bush because it was a black man ordering the bombings and drone strikes.

You don’t have to directly communicate with YouTubers to manipulate them. If they say something you don’t like pull back on the patreon dollars and then reinstate when they do. You don’t have to directly interact with them. Especially if they were paying up that amount of money.
Which is the entire point of the social justice programs the Soviets encouraged in the West. It just wasn’t successful in time for the Soviets to take advantage of it.
