Halo MCC/Infinite/general Griefing thread - Six months, two maps, no refunds

I wouldn't be surprised if these are former Halo fans who want Halo to die rather than see what Microsoft does further with it. After the failure of the past few Halo games and the Halo TV show, they probably don't want the series to end up like Star Wars.

Words can't describe how much I hate the Nu-Halo art style, even in the amazing Arma 3 mod Operation Trebuchet it finds a way to sneak in here and there.

At least we have Custom Edition and emulation if the MCC dies, playing old Halo on it never really felt right anyway.

The worst 343 redesign still has to be the Elites. They went from sleek and elegant assassins to hideous bloated ogres.

They finally rectified this mistake in Infinite and went back to a sleeker Bungie-esque design, but for some reason decided to bring back their ugly tortoise Grunts from Halo 4.

I really fucking hate the vehicles in Infinite, in 12v12 and 8v8 theres not nearly enough spawns for things like Rockets to counter it, so you just have niggers in their banshees or whatever keep killing people for the entire game.

This guy is back at it again. In fact, He's always at it. He has been actively a-logging Halo composer Marty O'Donell for the better part of a year and i've been following him as a personal lolcow. It was mostly small potatoes up until a few days ago. What did he do a few days ago? Well, he has falsely accused Marty O'Donnell of sexual assault.

So, what was the incident in question? Back in 1999, Marty got drunk at a halloween party and went around scaring women with a mask. One such person was Lorraine McLees (designer of the Halo logo) There was no physical contact, apologies were made the next day, and no charges were ever made. It's creepy, but it's nowhere near being sexual assault. He has even reposted screenshots covering the incident that definitively show that it wasn't sexual assault.

Marty Derangement Syndrome seems to be the new thing ever since he announced he was entering politics. It was there before probably spun up by Bungie when he was going through the legal stuff recently, but its just gotten far worse as of late. I see them actively discrediting all the work he did on Halo as it actually all being done by Salvatori and Marty just stole all the credit because of his big ego, but then in the same breath they turn around and praise Salvatori for every single Destiny song they like, doing the same thing to the other composers on Destiny. It's a pattern I've seen repeated with other things, where the creator of a work that they love is actually a based chud and they need to spin these giant copes about how the original creator is bad actually. You can see it with Notch, the new narrative is that Notch sucked at programming and Minecraft sucked when Notch was working on it and Jeb was the one that did everything and made it good. I feel like there were other examples but I can't remember any right now.

From what it sounds like it was one of the Bungie employees who put him up to it so he could prank his co-workers, and that everyone had a big laugh about at the end once everyone realized it really was just a harmless joke.

If they'd named the function something besides "ring_song" and people weren't able to dig around in the code for clues, I wonder how long it would have taken people to figure it out. He did point out that the game did give a couple hints, but they weren't obvious. He also might be posting more old videos soon.

Marty will be forever /ourguy/ to me; his music was transcendent. It helped make Halo into the grand experience that it was.

Its almost like no one enforces Ex post facto laws and Statues of limitations anymore. #metoo.

I'd argue it wasn't even the games. It was the generally friendly playerbase that made halo what it was and turned online gaming into the mainstream. I'm talking Halo 3 with all the fun forge maps and custom lobbies that was quite diligent about quietly banning cheaters consoles. At least to where I never encountered any blatant ones and was one of the few games where I actually did make long term friends playing.

Versus the gaming "communities" post-Reach that by design, seem to do nothing but breed infighting and enable self centered pricks who need an asskicking to hide behind a banhammer and an ivory tower.
