It appears that this dude played a lot of people and it brought him a monetary reward and, you know what, I can respect that. He didn't harm anyone in the process; if anything, he entertained them by giving them a target to gossip about. What he pulled off is really no different from the legions of people fronting personas on message boards and social media, only he was smart enough to monetize it. He played Chantal's game but did it right by going in with a plan, whereas she is ruining her life with little chance of pulling out of her spiral.
Would I get fat for a year and film myself in fictional arguments and ridiculous relationship situations while stuffing my face in exchange for millions? Sure, and so would loads of other people but he did it first so that one's crossed off the list for anyone trying to go viral online. It's not that hard to lose weight if you normally eat well and are very physically active. There's a difference between someone like Nick and someone addicted to food.
Internet "social experiments" can be fun when they're essentially harmless. This was, imo, harmless. When I first began working in digital media, I was all about creating online mystery experiences. I still do it sometimes; I used TikTok for a short experiment during Covid. I bow to Nick - well played, man.
