[Second Missing Primarch]

I've got a soft spot for the Redwall series in this regard. The author Brian Jacques left school at 15 to become a merchant sailor and after getting back home he worked a bunch of jobs, one of them being a milkman and delivering to a school for blind children. He volunteered to read to them and didn't like the books that were available for their age so he wrote his own, paying special attention to being descriptive since these kids couldn't see. There are bunch of other authors I like who got into writing late in their lives and it obviously benefitted their work tremendously.
As far as I know the only thing pat did before writing was selling insurance. Not saying its impossible for people like that to write compelling stories, but his life experiences don't do him any favors.

I grew up on Redwall and got to meet Brian Jacques once at a signing event. He was incredibly nice and friendly and a very entertaining storyteller. You could tell he'd lived a full and interesting life. Basically he was the opposite of Patrick in every possible way.

There's probably a good sci-fi story about the struggles of the last human city, on Mars, and their fight to survive after Earth is destroyed by FFWBT emissions. Surviving Mars allows for that if you screw up either The Last War or Wildfire, which kills all of humanity through either warfare or a lethal pandemic. By that point you should be built up enough.to handle it but, being unable to resupply from Earth can be a massive pain in the ass.

Speaking of video games, recently I've been playing Wild Arms. It's an old ass JRPG from the PS1 era, but it has two spells called "Prison" and "Hi-Prison" (you can rename them but why bother?). I did use these spells to assist me in forcing a book based monster into giving up it's rare drop, so one could say that finally, after all these years, Pat has convinced someone to enjoy prison. And yes, I giggled about stalker childs to myself as I did it.
