It is pretty obvious what Harris' strategy is now. She is banking on a highlights reel of Trump's "worst Moments" to rile up the TDS vote to help her flagging numbers.


This is a terrible idea though.


People need a reason to vote -for- her to justify a vote -against- Trump. Even Biden's team realized this, and he already had more groundwork set up to provide that. This was an awful call.

I think they had some hope that her word salad moments would actually come out good.

It's not the beatdown that Trump v. Biden was, but he's definitely holding his own.

The "point" of debates nowadays is to get sound bites for political ads, either from your strongest statements or your opponent's worst gaffes, because "swing voters" are an endangered species and what matters is getting your core base excited to turn out for you.
Biden didn't really drop out because he "lost" the debate, because it implies the point of the debate was to win over undecideds. Biden dropped out because he was having a "Dean scream" moment every damn time he opened his mouth, giving them no ammo for their ads and giving the Trump team a political WMD.
So yeah, this is just a normal clown-world era debate. It doesn't change anything about the current situation, and that's bad for Kamala because she was not in a good position going into this debate.

Yeah the circus shit doesn't work so well when the bread's six dollars a loaf.

This is a clownshow but the only way it turns out badly for Trump is what happens after the debate, not during, if it continues like this for the rest of it. By which I mean, people nominally on 'his side' either get cold feet or start playing his performance to the public as worse than it is/was in actuality.

Imo that's the real problem with the Biden debate from 2020, not that it was actually that bad, but that the public lapped up the meme that it was horrible.
