One thing I learned from this debate is how much of a disaster Harris is. This whole "mystery box" option for policy is a horror show, and every time it's cracked open just a little bit, what we see is fucking awful. We just got a reveal that's she's unapologetically pro war. Even from a Democrat perspective, she should be looking like shit right now - I think she just lost a big portion of the young vote because all they care about at the moment is Palestine, and when it comes to some of the shit she said like sucking off McCain, Cheney, and her pro-gun (that one is absolute horseshit from her, nobody who is pro gun will buy that) comments can really only dissuade voters on her fucking side.
They'll spin this to hell and back, but goddamn, she really made absolutely no case for people to vote for her.

Didn't watch it, but from what I'm gathering here, Trump lost. Whether it costs him the election or not is a different matter.

The biggest knock agaisnt Trump for normies is he isn't presidential, he's uncouth, he's a buffoon and an idiot. Him arguing 3v1 and being visibly upset and heated is the opposite image he needs to project to the normies.
Erm no normies actually love Donald Trump and everybody is running to the streets for an American Spring, all the "Trump is cooked" posts online are actually botted, in fact all disrespect of our glorious leader is bots!

He should have been hammering inflation and price of groceries all night long.
Whoever brought this up would have won if they made solid points on the issue. Its mind boggling why Trump didn't go into this at all. Biden is a democrat, Kamala is a democrat, they own this mess. Instead we got January 6th and talking about relationships with foreign leaders.

Newsflash idiots, foreign policy matters very little to the yokel voter who is just watching prices chip away at their life. (I know foreign policy matters to me and the Farms but you know what I mean)

Well, whether he "lost" is subjective come the November election. However, I do suspect a LOT of soundbites taken out of context.

How are the betting markets doing?
Slight increase for Harris. My guess is that bettors were anticipating a Kamala collapse and her performance seemed good in comparison to expectations. A 5% shift isn't really anything to write home about and my guess is that it'll fizzle out into a wash. Or someone just dumped a ton of money on her side.
Instant reaction is that Trump was very uneven throughout the debate (he frankly flubbed the (admittedly loaded) question about Kamala's race and missed some dunk opportunities) but he did solid enough on the zingers ("Quiet please" :story: ) and bringing up the illegals (Springfield, OH being a good example) to eke out a victory. If I had to give out letter grades it'd probably be Trump C+, Harris C. Not bad for a 3-on-1 slugfest but this won't be hugely impact. Maybe I'll effortpost once everything calms down ( :optimistic: ).

I think Trump did good, but not great. He stayed on policy at the beginning, but then he took the bait and went into attack mode. He should have been hammering inflation and price of groceries all night long. He should have never brought up the Haitians eating pets, while 100% true, it's so easy to spin it as crazy talk. Trump didn't remind he was the best president for black jobs ever when they talked about Kamala's fake black half-Indian heritage.
Kamala stood her ground and got her sassy remarks and prepared statements, That's all she had to do. Now she has her soundbites to make quick tik tok ads and football game commercials.
The moderators were the worst they have ever been, it was 3 vs 1.
Overall the debate did not changed much, but the media and Kamala has more ammo and soundbites. Which is all so tiring.
That's how I feel. She only looked good cause the moderators kept jumping in

If you were supporting or leaning Trump, neither Kamala or Trump convinced you to change your mind.

Kamala is triple down on generic dem and running away from her record. Kamala may have lost supporters with her backing away from her progressive record.

Nobody at this point arent leaning on a side. At this point its just convincing people not to vote. I dont think Trump got anyone to not vote who would be willing too based on tonight. The same might not be true of Kamala.

I also think the condescending tone hurt Kamala. It may play well with the TDS crowd but it doesn't do well when you are trying to present yourself as likeable.

As I said before the debate, Kamala needed to bring something new, she didn't. Trump already has his pieces in place. Kamala just spent her time spitting out campaign slogans and criticizing Trump. The relevant questions that independent voters would've loved to hear about she did not answer.

I don't want a condescending President who talks like a first grade teacher talks to her pupils. I want a man that can get shit done and so does the people. Again, this is just me. Maybe I'm the only one who has been angry at these past 4 years but the last thing I want is a softball who can't answer a single question, especially when they are trying to tell you that what you are seeing with your own two eyes isn't happening.

Kamala had one job to do and instead of presenting herself to the American people she just sat there and talked about Trump for 3/4s of the debate.
