On closing I'm incredibly sad, tomorrow marks the 23th anniversary of 9/11. The defining start of an Era of perpetual decline for the US. But for a time between 2001 and 2006 there was hope, we in that small measure were a people united in suffering with the desire to rebuild our nation and destroy all those responsible. Yet none of them even reference it. It's the easiest speech to write. One about perseverance, unity and dignity in the face of unavoidable hardship and tragedy. Yet the thought never occurs to the modern day polititan, that the people they represent are capable of such greatness. It never occurs to them that it is their duty to guide their people's righteous might to forge a future. It never occurs to them that the decline of a nation is a choice, and that with effort governance can lead to something greater than managing the decline.
They simply don't believe in anything, neither themselves, their people or their country, and it's sad. Incredibly so.
