Kamala used her speech to set up a dichotomy between her and Trump: optimistic future vs bitter jaded past, and Trump immediately proved his point by spewing nothing but venomous bile and negativity about how the country is on a one-way trip to Hell.

I’ll say up and down all day long that Trump era policies were in a lot of ways more ethical and fiscally responsible for the country but hooooolllyy fuck boys he sounds insane.

A lot of this rings kind of like a traditional Trump debate. Biased moderators bickering with Trump. Egotistical rambling. Pearl clutching from the Democratic nom about "fine people on both sides!!!". The vibe really lacks the charm it had back in 2016.

Out of curiosity: what the hell is your ideology, then? Literally anything modern was born from the Enlightenment. Before the 18th century all that there was in Europe was different degrees of feudal and early capitalist despotism. The debate centred on the Reformation vs Counter-Reformation.

Even if you went "I hate niggers, I hate India, and I hate jeets" that's an objectively modern position to take.
