Because my internet went on the fritz last night, I wasn't able to watch the end of the debate. My husband and I rage quit at that point because we were getting so annoyed at our feed freezing, lol.

However, I did finally watch the closing statements this morning. I totally missed the best part of the debate last night.

Trump absolutely annihilated Kamala in his closing statements, and got all of the zingers in that I wanted him to. Had he been like this for the entire debate, this would have been a decided and unanimous W for Trump.

I have noticed that people are completely dogging on the moderators this morning, though. Seeing a lot of normies talking about how bad the questions were and how they didn't cover the issues that most people care about. That's a good thing. People are generally tired of hearing about how much of a "meanie pants" Trump is. The only thing the questions from last night accomplish is appealing to the TDS base (which has hit its ceiling).

Millennial and Gen X, voters, however ... They very much remember Dick Cheney.
Indeed. We all remember how much of a fucking creep that dude is and the fact that he endorsed her, and she celebrated that endorsement, is not a good look. The NPCs will clap their Cheeto-dusted hands in approval but there are enough people who will smell that smelly smell that smells smelly and reconsider.

Also, welcome back!

The Cheney name is very much poisoned, especially among Millennials and Gen Xers, and especially among independent voters (which is an ever-growing voting demographic).

Case in point: Liz Cheney's primary. She didn't just lose her primary ... She got nuked. A decided amount of voters still remember the Cheneys.

And, thank you!

Young voters don't even vote for the most part.

There's definitely millennials who won't really remember Cheney. In most countries young adult is anyone under 40, so there's a pretty wide net there. Sort of depends on how late you consider someone a millennial, there's a bit of debate on ending with 1998 or 2000 as birth years. I definitely wouldn't expect many people who were only like 10 when he vacated to remember anything that Cheney ever said or did.

Also tbh, VPs are quite easy to forget about. I forgot all about Biden for a while and that sucker only left in 2017.

I actually forgot that, even though it wasn't that long ago. The entire Cheney family is radioactive and it deserves to be stated again how fucking insane it is that Harris not only accepted their endorsement, but brought it up like that makes her better.

Celebrating all the RINOs who endorsed you does not turn any Republican voters and it sure as shit won't turn any Independent voters. I would know on that last one - I'm an Independent.

I would say that millennials born in the 80s and early 90s definitely remember Dick Cheney ... And those are the millennials who are most politically active.

People don't talk about this enough: In the 2022 Midterm elections, there was a huge political shift with millennials. In the Obama years, Democrats touted millennials as the most "left" generation of voters ever. Since then, it's become almost 50-50 in a rather short amount of time.

I'd pretty much forgotten about him tbh and haven't really thought about him in years, the scrutiny over Bush and Afghanistan/Iraq definitely gives Cheney more staying power than a lot of other VPs I think. But yes people who weren't kids or pre-teens when Cheney stepped down are definitely way more likely to remember the guy.

I cannot understand how someone could see how ABC carried Harris in the debate and thing she makes a good president.

"It's ok Mrs. President, go sit in the corner and drink your margarita while I got talk to Mr Putin and Mr Xi about not nuking us and blockading our ports."
It's like Trump said, she is just Biden. The whole thing is a farce, they bullied Biden out and now they're rallying behind one of the most forgettable VPs ever.

The only part I saw live was the closing statements and then some evil bitch in a hot pink suit reacting. In the closing statements, Trump came off really strong with actual talking points and Kamala reminded me a lot of Hillary Clinton with the awkard and socially anxious smiling and other facial expressions. I've said this before but my main impression when I hear her speak is "this woman is not the woman who is strong enough in character to be POTUS. This is a woman who climbed up by being a professional dick-sucker and diversity pick. Putin will laugh in her face and she'll cry."

And then it faded to the evil woman in the pink suit who, without missing a beat, started saying that Kamala looked SO STRONG and SO FIERCE and Trump was "hunched over" and "panicking." It all made me feel really sexist. I believe that we can have female leaders, but it's like how they don't actually have male and female sports in most cases. They have female-only sports and an open division. Women are welcome to compete in chess against men. And we've all heard the stories of a girl being on the small town football or soccer team. If we're going to have a woman president she needs to be just as strong and formidable as a male leader. I mean, what's the alternative? Saying that we should hold women to a lower standard and have a worse president because of gender equality? How can people think we need a "brat" president? There's no female division for politicians, there's only an open division. If you want a female division of leadership with the standards set for women, go be a part of a CHURCH, which will have women leaders FOR THE OTHER WOMEN. We already had a way that a woman could be a leader in the White House- she's called the First Lady.

I've never liked Trump but Kamala is so subversive. At least Trump says he wants to "make America great", wtf does Kamala want to do? She always reminds me of that clip of the She-Hulk lawyer twerking. Everyone that supports her seems to do it based on vibes only. All the women in my life say they need Kamala because "it's time to have someone who isn't an OLD WHITE MAN!" And it just makes me think lots of sexist things lol.

She can't hide from the press and have Walz or the ABC mods there to hold her hand when she's in office.

That's how I see it. Even if you're someone who sees Trump as unhinged in this debate, Kamala looked very weak by making the moderators do half of the debate for her, and even when she did speak it wasn't anything really spectacular.

Slept on my debate reaction. Trump didn’t go for the kill but he didn’t do that with Biden, either. Biden almost literally shit his pants on stage. It would’ve been 1:1,000,000 chances of Kamala pulling some insta-death stunt like that. She didn’t make herself any more likable. I hated her stupid grins and little cackles. Whenever she looked at the camera and pleaded for people to vote for her it gave me an uncanny feeling like when a person in a youtube video does a bad ad read. Just groan-inducing and condescending.

I don’t think Trump can really lose a debate. Arguing with people (three people on stage on national TV in this case,) is where he lives. It’s what everyone expect’s from him, and what plenty actually want from him. No one watches a Trump debate from the last 8 years wanting the moments where he was graceful and agreeable and willing to compromise. Faggots who bring up “grace” or whatever with electability are the same push-over tummy-showing dorks who hold up “losing with dignity” as a necessary pillar of GOP policy. Which it was, but it isn’t anymore. And here’s why that’s a good thing…

Pundits, even right-leaning ones, are saying Kamala smiling compared to Trump's frowning makes her more appealing to undecided voters. To me, it just makes her come off and condescending and elitist.

The "pundits" are trying to polish a turd.

She looked like a smug cunt and had her nose up in the air the entire time. That literally only appeals to the "yassss queen!" crowd.

Like I said last night, her body language gave me 2016 Hillary vibes, which didn't go over well with the voters.

Yeah, because when I think appealing, I think “cross between the Cheshire Cat and a Xenomorph”
