I'm also, based entirely on intuition, a decent amount older than most users here. I've identified a few other wise elders here and almost all of us barely ever visit the lolcow sections. After a certain age, k-smog and batboy getting caught flipping a grunt just doesn't elicit any emotional response at all.
I think it has moreso to do with the broader socialization of these thought processes where individuals find it acceptable to behave a certain way (be it rigging, ballot harvesting, whatever) without being explicitly told to do so because it's toeing the party line.
