Honestly, before Norm died I occasionally felt sorry for Rick. Norm was an absolute hero to me and I was pretty gutted when he died. And of course this fat fuck had to make it about himself. He took the death of a man who didn't know or care that he existed as an opportunity to remind people that he was the real victim. Anything that happens to him is 100% deserved.

The funniest thing about Norm to me, is he would have a brilliant idea and then make a terrible joke on purpose. I think a lot of the time he thought making people cringe was funny. Its like it you hired a clown, and you expect makeup and balloons, but instead Norm MacDonald shows up and starts making jokes about absentee fathers to the kids there while making balloon animals. That's probably why he lasted so long in standup without turning into a traumatized drug addict. A lot of comedians are hypersensitive to failure to the point they go into a total tailspin over it. Even successes who never or almost never bombed are usually absolutely terrified of the thought of it.

That's why so many standups get out of it and try to move on to something like acting where if they fuck up, they just do another take.

I don't know if he ended up actually learning something about black holes or the speed of light or whatever. Odds are not high, as astrophysics is probably not the easiest subject to tackle through haphazard questions on online forums, especially with Rick's 1.7 background.

Back then he at least made some effort to educate himself to own his enemies, but after he got on Twitter and learned about the block button, it was all over.
