Diseased TV Tropes community

I find funny how the page on Kratman's, Lind's and other stuff are right in saying its a fantasy about the guys they hate doing bad things, but they dont say the same aboout Handmaid's Tale.
Not to say these guys are good writers, but its funny how they say in the Caliphate page that "its a dumb fantasy to think that all these islamic groups would just unite" while its treated as a warning tale to make a similar story about a christian minority somehow making a theocracy.

Yeah, like Christians are more likely to unite than muslims. /sarc

TVTropes is hilarious for the drinking game you can play of "it's fine when we do it."

It absolutely boggles my mind that anyone bothers with game consoles anymore. They haven't been relevant since the 8th generation.

They're just glorified gaming PCs with their own customized version of FreeBSD installed on it, and even their "exclusives" are being ported to Windows.

The only console that really has exclusives anymore is Nintendo, and goodness knows how long that will last.

"If you're a good person, you really don't need to let other people know that you're a good person."

Maybe these troglodytes could learn to abide by this credo.

EDIT: You guys need to see what I got from the Brave AI.

TV Tropes Criticisms Listed

Based on the provided search results, here’s a comprehensive answer to “everything wrong with TV Tropes”:

Lack of Consistency and Redundancy: TV Tropes’ vast database contains numerous entries, but some tropes are duplicated or have inconsistent definitions. This can lead to confusion and make it difficult for users to find accurate information.

Overemphasis on Pop Culture: TV Tropes focuses heavily on Western pop culture, particularly American and British media. This might neglect or underrepresent other cultures’ contributions to storytelling and tropes.
Biased and Subjective Entries: Some tropes are written from a particular perspective or with a clear bias, which can influence the reader’s understanding. This may lead to disagreements and debates among users.

Lack of Clear Hierarchy or Organization: With thousands of tropes, the site’s organization and categorization can be overwhelming. It’s challenging to find specific tropes or navigate the vast network of related entries.

Inconsistent Tone and Humor: TV Tropes’ tone and humor can vary greatly across entries, ranging from informative to sarcastic or even offensive. This may not be suitable for all audiences or reading styles.

Redundant or Unnecessary Subpages: Some subpages, such as the “Funny” page for CinemaSins, may contain redundant or unnecessary information, making it difficult to extract valuable insights.

Absence of Critical Analysis: While TV Tropes provides a wealth of information on tropes, it often lacks in-depth critical analysis or evaluation of their impact on storytelling. This might leave users without a nuanced understanding of the tropes’ effects.

Inadequate Handling of Conflicting Opinions: TV Tropes’ community-driven nature can lead to conflicting opinions and debates. However, the site’s moderation and handling of these conflicts might be inadequate, resulting in unresolved disputes and frustration among users.

Technical Issues and Outdated Formatting: The site’s technical aspects, such as formatting and search functionality, may be outdated or prone to errors, making it difficult for users to access and navigate the content.

Lack of Clear Guidelines for Editing and Contribution: The process of editing and contributing to TV Tropes’ content might be unclear or inconsistent, leading to confusion among users and potentially resulting in low-quality or inaccurate additions.

Overemphasis on Entertainment Media: TV Tropes primarily focuses on entertainment media, such as movies, TV shows, and video games. This might neglect or underrepresent other forms of media, such as literature, comics, or music, which also employ tropes.

Inadequate Representation of Marginalized Voices: The site’s community and contributors might not adequately represent marginalized voices or perspectives, potentially leading to a lack of diversity and inclusivity in its content.

Lack of Transparency and Accountability: TV Tropes’ governance and decision-making processes might not be transparent, leading to concerns about accountability and the potential for biases or errors to go unchecked.

These issues highlight some of the “everything wrong with TV Tropes,” but it’s essential to acknowledge that the site is a community-driven project, and its strengths and weaknesses are shaped by its users and contributors.

You ever notice how TvT doesn't have a proper "Pedophiles are bad" trope? Well, that's probably because back when fast Eddie was running the show the site was very pedo friendly. Going by that old SomethingAwful thread, kids getting groomed in the forums was a normal occurrence.

Only after he stepped away did they start trying to course correct. Very, very slowly.

You know, one of their weirdest amendments to the ever-growing lists of rules was the anti-grooming one.

I hadn't check tvtropes but tumblr started getting weird about grooming and defining it overly broad long before "ok groomer" became a meme. Like if a 22m was dating a 20f suddenly he was grooming her. Then if you were just older than anyone and talking to them then you were a groomer.

It makes you sad for these people that they have no concept of people being nice and friendly to each other, that not all relationships are exploitation.

I haven't touched a console since the Wii U, and unless I ever see a Wii or DS again, I intend for it to stay that way.
Nintendo are the only fuckers who even make real consoles anymore instead of just black or white featureless boxes that are just slightly worse computers except they have some brand's logo on it.

If you mean that in present tense, then they actually do. They’re going to rename it to “Pedophiles Are a Special Kind Of Evil.” If you didn’t mean it like that, then my bad.
Yeah, I was thinking of that but then I realized that they didn't have a trope that just outright said "Child Molesters suck." But if they do change the name to that then they're trying way too hard to course correct, since I don't there's a single work out there that wouldn't qualify as an example..

You can tell how desperate they are to propagate the idea of black people dying first in media with their page about it. Half of them are "Well, actually he's not the first to die, but the first major one to die or the first in a specific arc to die or was the only black guy and died." or are ones where they note a black person doesn't die first.

That was always one of those things I saw people talk about way more than I ever saw it in action.
