I would guess it's a multitude of factors. For one people who eat a lot of processed foods are on a high sodium diet whether they know it or not, and overconsuming salt makes you thirsty to balance it out.

For two, just like the 10,000 steps per day meme (which is made up) the "you have to drink x ounces of water per pound you weigh" has been a thing for a while despite having no scientific backing. For whatever reason the simple advice of "drink when you're thirsty" has been dismissed as not trendy and stupid (despite it being how all animals work since the beginning of time).
Women are prone to following trends like this, and gymrats can as well if they're convinced it's important for making gains.

Processed food, similar to dog and cat kibble, are also lower moisture so you have to drink more to balance it out. If you eat fresh foods - fruit, vegetables, meat, hell even butter has some water in it - you get more from food and you need to drink less. This is also why cats on dry food are prone to kidney issues. Cats are supposed to get fluids from fresh meat and it fucks them up if they don't.

Lastly, because of soda and coffee and such people boredom drink. They drink because they like the taste or the sugar or whatever even if they're not thirsty.
Oh and diabetes makes you thirsty. Plenty of that around.

If you eat healthy, salt to taste, don't eat processed junk, eat fresh foods, and don't drink when you're not thirsty you'd be surprised how little you actually drink. There's some other things that can contribute like what diet you're on, too.

Sorry for the sperg out but it's half interesting half infuriating how much people overcomplicated incredibly simple things. I hate the "don't forget to hydrate" memes too. People have literally become too stupid to drink when they're thirsty.

If your point is that the pipes and stuff are contaminated, that is easily checked by independent lab tests. Most of the time, it's due to pipes in the home.

Fun fact about fasting, it'll increase water consumption because your body will start purging sodium in your system, which will cause you to literally piss out your electrolytes. Most of the weight lost in the first five days of fasting is water weight, roughly 2/3s, the rest is mostly fat.

On the water talk. I remember hearing once the big problem is that your body sends the same signal for "I'm hungry" as "I'm thirsty". So alot of people who need water end up eating instead (usually processed garbage) leading to the obesity crisis we have now.

Also doesn't help that we sell a lot of drinks that are basically empty calories and liquid desserts as being acceptable drink alternatives (Gatorade, everything not coffee at starbucks, soda aka liquid candy, etc)

I found a more comprehensive list than I expected which even featured those eligible in one state only. Many in that latter group were pretty lulzy or batshit in terms of what they wanted to do if they were elected; quite a few one-state minority candidates were running on a reparations platform as that was the hot topic at the time.

I can only imagine how much more ridiculous a comprehensive third party candidate list would look for the 2024 election.

I suppose it's true anyone can run - and these candidates prove that. However, it only perpetuates the stereotype that these candidates are little more than fringe candidates that don't need to be taken seriously. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone will be able to realistically mobilize/create a viable third party that can appeal to those US voters stuck in the middle of the ever-increasing polarized political landscape - especially in light of the lawsuits being filed this year to keep certain alternate candidates on or off ballots.

The only viable third party in recent history was the Reform Party which immediately went to shit when Perot abandoned it. Radicals from tankies to White nationalists (including David Duke) as well as paleocons who hated Bush like Buchanan fought for control. Truly, the anticentrist party.

The only third parties that haven’t drank the koolaid are the Constitution Party. Solidarity Party, and what little remains of the Reform Party.
