I didn't doubt for a moment he was going to bring some sort of cosplay over; like last time he went out in public to Shibuya for his cringe photo op. I hope he'll do another public outing.

I do wonder what the general Japanese public thinks when they see chubby, white, gaijin adult American man walking through the streets in one of his getups. It's probably a bit rhetoric, the answer might likely be "retarded American manchild"

Yesss, YESSSSSSS!!

Isn't TGS the Japanese E3? The only people I'd expect to be cosplaying there are actors hired to advertise games. Is this gonna be Anime Rave 2: Autistic Boogaloo where he's the only attendee in cosplay? Fingers crossed.

I'd really prefer if you'd be quiet.

Man, I genuinely love coming back to this thread once a month or so.

Wars may rage outside. Political leaders change. Nations rise and fall. Continents drift to and fro.

But Chibi? Chibi never changes. Without fail, each time I return, he's still stuck in his little Chibi Cycle. It makes him the coziest lolcow for me. I know he's always there, exactly as expected.

tl;dr they view it the same way we might view 2 chimps flinging shit and screaming at one another inside their enclosure. We're equal parts fascinated by this queer sight we'd never before seen in person, these animals engaging in their natural functions in such a sanguine way... and completely disgusted once we finally realise we've been watching shit be smeared on every possible wall.

Can anyone in the thread enlighten me here? Is there a difference between cons in North America and cons in Japan? Attendee-wise, I mean. Do they have to hang up little flyers in Japan reminding con-goers to shower regularly? Or is the glorious Nippon a bit better about that?

Or are anime/vidja game fans like that in every country?

This guy is genuinely retarded if he brought his cosplay to Japan.

But then... he did this when going to Shibuya dressed as Joker as well so...

It's not just that. The ones you find in Japan are all young like in their late teens / early 20's. I don't know if you'd find ones that are in their mid-30's doing this.

That kicked ass. I feel like all of us here, with our love of mocking retards, are more in tune with Japanese culture than poor Chibi is.

Anyone with the barest yet unbiased interest in Japanese culture and history is more in tune with the society than those dudes are. Which is a whole lot of people here, since Japanese culture is interesting, and we've all consumed it at some point; it's not just anime, it's videogames that could've only been made in Japan for the average person, and history and sociology stuff for the nerds among us who like asking questions about foreign cultures such as: why are there so many actually Japanese Davido-kuns? Why do some salarymen live a lifestyle worthy of Lucas Werner? Why do they have so many perverts? And so on. All in all, a fascinating little corner of the globe.

Davido-kun, Chibi, and the like just have very obvious autism and a desire to materialise infantile anime entertainment in real life. Because unlike American cartoons these feature "real people" who match the autists' level of mental development, played completely straight. That's why they hardly ever watch or read seinen, it's all shounen and SoL slop.

So yes, they don't know the first thing about Japanese culture. They're manchildren trying to live a manchild's fantasy, they're like troons without pronouns. It's pretty sad, because how do you even try and fix a Davido-kun?

Last year I went on press day so it was mostly normal looking industry people and the occasional booth babe. I heard there’s some cosplay on general admission day but there are strict rules about not showing up in cosplay and registering to use the changing rooms. I think TGS in particular has some rules about copyright that restricts what you can dress as but I didn’t look too closely into it.

All conventions in Japan demand you register because they don’t want people in cosplay outside of the venue.

Cosplay outside of designated areas is mostly seen as deeply cringe.

But, but....he belongs there.
He feels so peaceful (while on a holiday).

I'm not really sure what he considers flags for him belonging there. He barely speaks the language and does not have the heritage. Liking Japanese food and basing your whole personality on a Bing Bing Wahoo machine in not candidacy for citizenship cheebs.
