Not even five minutes in a count list videos about creepy commercials that's over an hour long he does overreach rant about pizza gate and Q-anon. Are breadtubers trying to move to horror because YouTube stops giving them a free Algorithm boost because they are all pro-Palestine and anti-Israel?
Serious question. Does Ryan Hollinger have monkeypox? He looks so sick and gross looking in his new bone tomahawk video.

People forget how scary slender man was back in the day, even before the slender man's stabbing incidents. Slender man is freaky because it blurs the lines between fiction and reality. The characters and stories took a life of their own. Hell, the slender man stabbing feels like something from HP Lovecraft, not real life. What's got me, there were violent crimes connected with slender man long before the stabbing incidents. More after.

Tumblr and Fujo artists took interest in creepypastas and SCP wiki. Tumblr started injecting woke propaganda into horror stories and censoring SCP stories. Jeff the killer and slender man are outright ruined by Fujo artists. Both can’t be taken seriously now.
Honestly Slenderman is almost a whole different genre at some points. it never really suffered from the same shit that hit SCP or the backrooms like most creepypastas do. Sure, you had fujos getting their hands on him and making him live in a mansion with Ben and Jeff, but the primary depiction of him was so genuinely eerie, and he never seemed to have any concrete goals, weaknesses, or origins beyond aimless cruelty or voyeurism, making it impossible to get a clear read just what the hell's going on in his head or why he's doing anything. It helps that he's intersected with the real world as a feared figure far more than the standard bleeding sonic OC or spooky mario rom hack ever could.

I do have to admit the demand that he magically stop existing after the incident in 2014 was kinda lame.

I blame In Praise of Shadows.

As tragic as the situation was, I can't help but have to point out no one even died. Washing the hands of a horror icon because of one fucked up situation with no deaths is baffling to me.
i think this stabbing was the last straw, iirc everyone during that period was getting seriously tired of creepypastas, then (except marble hornets and those two slender games) anything that was related to the slenderman was either asset flipping on some obscure game engine or fujoshitting, it was a lose-lose situation all around.

Honestly, I'm glad that at Slender Man's height of popularity, most of the media made about him was just simple unfiction and ARGs like Marble Hornets, TribeTwelve, EverymanHybrid and so on. I shudder to think what kind of "deep lore" would Gen Z try to shove into Slender Man if he was created today.

I have watched a few of his videos and the guy strikes me as a faggot, the cadence of his voice and the way he talks and presents himself give off a flamboyant impression.
But in terms of his videos well they are the dime a dozen iceberg slop with not much thought nor effort put into them, just the kind of video you have playing in the background as you do other stuff.

it's interesting to see how nowadays things like Jeff The Killer and Sonic.exe are kind of around but not the same. These silly little horror things from that era that were laughed at for being ridiculous and corny still exist but it feels the roles are reversed. I feel a lot of people nowadays mostly in the current generations and not specifically don't actually "get" these things due to their obsession with making everything more grandiose and expansive.

If Slender was a thing nowadays i can only imagine it would end up like the Backrooms or Sonic.exe now where there is tons of lore it didn't need that is extremely convoluted with multiple characters and entities. Which kind of is what happen to Slender on a smaller scale.

As autistic as this is going to sound, I blame capeshit (and to a lesser extent souls games) for this. Both worked very hard to normalize the notion that fictional universes should be basically impenetrable unless you spend a frankly retarded amount of time on wikis delving into the "deep lore" behind them. Things like that always existed, of course, but generally it wasn't shoved in your face. For example, Trekkies could always spend way too much time going over tech manuals of fictional bullshit sci-fi technology and arguing about it and such, but the average person watching TNG or DS9 didn't know shit about it, they just watched the show and enjoyed it. Now, however, people seem to delight in making that level of investment necessary for enjoyment.

Obviously some of this also just comes from typical deviantart-tier online OC autism and stuff but I don't think it would have become as common and gotten the traction it did without the MCU and Souls series helping to prime normalfags for it after they took off.

I agree with the lore wikiwhoring ruining things but at the same time i think the rise in muh "video essay" was also a contributing factor, soulsfags like VaatiVidya are sort of ground zero alongside FNAF spergs.

People realized that the algorithm gave alot of great exposure to long essays and by extension the original series, so it became an autistic incentive to cram as much video essay worthy shit into new horror content

Here's Nick Nocturne's face incase anyone was wondering, comes from the 2018 Candy Bowl: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SF4yB_FahYM

That's Adam Rosner, creator of the Tribe Twelve slender ARG and a massive degenerate himself (alleged zoophile, pedophile, rapist, jew, etc). Since the allegations came out he vanished (despite claiming in a phone call to have a response releasing soon) and the series is dead, although one of the people he worked with leaked the planned ending and lore.

Cmon man, you know who's really responsible for getting retard kids autistically involved with adding """"deep lore"""" to shit like skibidi toilet.

Ryan really fell off recently.
He has been playing tbe algorithm with his video titles ans whatnot so I stopped following him.
I do the same when someone uses AI art.
Reeks of laziness.

It technically DID happen with all the proxies, North Stars, HABIT and Rake and stuff, forming an almost slenderverse mcu, (I liked Everymanhybrid, mainly because the motherfucker playing HABIT was visibly having the time of his life, but it started to get much more urban fantasy, less cosmic horror, in the later installments.), but those could be easily ignored if you so chose and mainly existed because they wanted stuff to happen while Slenderman was chilling in the background, they didn't have nearly as much of an overbearing presence like all the autistic sublevels, entities, and researchers currently do on the Backrooms. It's just such a different landscape, these days, where simplicity and the unknown aren't as welcome as they used to be.

I think the popularity of fnaf was what REALLY caused the uptick in the need for unnecessary complexity in the modern creepypasta landscape, due to its increasingly spaghetti writing of a a sci-fi ghost story where it's simultaneously extremely story driven, but autistically obsessed with making the story the hardest part of the franchise to actually engage with.

It was also definitely SCP, man fuck SCP. I'm still mad how they went back and rewrote 049 just because some favored writer probably wanted their oc version of the doctor to get popular and got everyone else to apply their shitty new standards to one old article in particular.
