I find it interesting that the monkey image Cherri Murphy chose to make her Telegram profile picture was one tied down, looking (to my eyes) extremely nervous. To do some armchair psychology it suggests that she likes the idea of having something intelligent enough to understand domination and cruelty but not strong or intelligent enough to resist. I find it more disturbing than an image of actual violence being inflicted...it shows what I think is the real root of why these people like doing this to monkeys specifically. It's about having something that understands you have power over it. Other animals you can physically torture but the psychological element will be absent. With the monkey in that picture, it looks like a person having the thoughts a person would if they were tied down on a grate: "(what is going on? what are you going to do to me?)". There's a psychological element of dread and domination that you can't get with other animals, most of which seem to essentially just run their predator.exe instincts towards torturers.

This person cannot be allowed to have two vulnerable individuals in her influence.
