I imagine he means recent relative to his overall span on the web. Dude has been "well-known" (dunno if I should use that since technically, he never officially crossed a million), since 2014. But while he was heading down the "trad path" since 2018-19, he only stopped considering himself a liberal and openly considered himself a "post-liberal"/NRx-er/"fascist in 4 years"/whatever since around 2021-22.

I thought most of his appeal around 2014-2018 was that he took essentially /pol/ talking points & memes and watered them down a bit for a more centralist audience (because that's where he was politically).

He may have thought of himself as left wing even at that time, but among other things his anti-feminist position wasn't supporting that.

Eh, between 2014-2018, Sargon's whole shtick was the "old-school liberal who supports 90s Democrat causes, while not being retarded as current day 'liberals'." Which is why most people watching liked him, because for the most part, the overwhelming majority of people felt somewhat similar i.e. "I didn't leave the Left, the Left left me!".
The antifeminism position was still considered center/center-left at the time, because back then, feminism was the driving force for most of this SJW stuff, and intersectionalism hadn't yet seized the ideology to give us the completely insane and illogical "trans activism" and "race activism" we currently see.
However, I honestly kinda think his shift wasn't so much naturally finding faults with his liberal beliefs, but more of a "mocked through the internet thanks to Spencer, that retardation with Kraut and Tea, the EU insanity with UKIP and getting mocked to hell and back by Jim for it" which his ego couldn't deal with. Thanks to which, when 'fighting for liberalism' didn't protect him from all of that, he went 'post-liberal'.

I think one of the people he associates with at the Lotus Eaters, Conor? The guy with the massive ears. He's a very right wing influence and it seems Sargon has taken many of his talking points. Including the Pol ones you're talking about.

Sargon actually had more money on Substar for awhile than when his Patreon got nuked (the controversy gave him a boost of a couple grand per month).

The dropoff in Substar began after Lotus Eaters launched. His Substar donators likely just shifted their funds back to Lotus Eaters, and what’s left on Substar is just people who forgot about this site or are Uber dedicated.

Put another way, about 15 grand a month of Lotus Eater revenue is from legacy paypigs of Carl.
