It's funny that his characters are directly based on The Smurfs, look visually like the Fraggles, miscellaneous extras from Teddy Ruxpin or the red blood cells from Once Upon A Time: Life...

But his "Shmorky" pseudonym seems to be directly based on the Snorks!!
Heck, the Snorks are called "Snorky" in French!

His 80s cartoon obsession actually betrays his real age a lot. The Smurfs were most popular from 1981 to 1987, the ratings sharply declining around 88 and 89. If Shmorky was really born in 1982 like he claims, he would have been about 5 and just barely starting to make memories before Smurfs fell out of the public consciousness. If he was born in 1980 though, he would have been about 7, which is prime viewing age for that kind of cartoon.

A few of us back from the old oekaki board's were talking about how Dave had to be almost forty or more now as he was mid to late 20's when he was doing Keenspot comics like a mad man. Which was 16 years ago. Hell if was born in 1976 then he would have been 24 in 2000 and 40 this year.

That would explain why he was starting to go bald even then. Also his obsession with looking young and the extremes he goes to concealing his age.

I am going to go with no earlier then 1976 but no later then 1980 since we knew he was at least twenty something.

Edit: Just saw this on smorksters FB (had trouble linking this for some reason)

Maybe, but a lot of TV networks tend to rerun older cartoons that can be a dozen years out of date. Or heck, even older.
French kid TV would often do that. Show a 1986 cartoon in 1997, for instance... so, "nostalgic" discussions and communities would often put in a big blurb Dragon Ball Z with UFO Robo Grendizer and The Littles.

And then, there are also VHS releases. You do not need to catch a cartoon on TV to be a fan of it. Many cartoons I watched and rewatched on VHS were older than I was.

And although the Smurfs may have "fallen out of public consciousness" in America, it is still a household name in Europe, because of the original comic that is still ongoing to this day.

I think we need to keep in mind this is someone who is known to be a sociopath and compulsive liar. While he indeed does like all sort of weird nostalgia thing's that get used for everything from blatant knock offs to throw away lines to stuff his comics full of like it's a late season family guy episode. He's just sort of fumbling through a folio of old shit people might not remember to replace actual original content, or try to give a nostalgia contact high to those who do. Like I remember feeling mildly amused when he did a purple pussy comic (a comic for GIRLS!!) and was dropping dopey gamer sperg references to stuff like the old nintendo game Clash at Demonhead.

While I am however curious to the extent this nostalgia gamer/cartoon thing goes. Like does he just sit around watching old episodes of obscure cartoons like fat dog Mendoza. I don't think its going to provide any answers to his actual age. I think the easiest way is to try to search family connections, yearbooks or some public document that lists his legal age.

I agree. I'm at least 10 years younger than Shmorky but I've seen Snorks/Smurfs/etc because Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon ran them a lot in the 90s. Cartoons alone wouldn't date him, it just means he had cable.

I think the name Shmorky comes form the Simpsons though, wasn't that the name of the dolphin from that one Treehouse of Horror episode?

LET ME BE TOTALLY HONEST GUYS

Seriously, coming clean and immediately compulsively lying about the one fucking thing people know is true.
Dave's drawing skill and more impressively his ability to churn out hand drawn animation are the only things he has going for him. Like if they weren't a social justice warrior dumb dumb he could have a cartoon network show and making a comfortable salary. Hell people actually tried to pull Dave into professional animation and he sperged the fuck out and demanded he have a transexual childrens show. Too bad he slammed that fucking door forever and went from possible charity case to blacklisted creep. But such is the way of the self destructive.

Oh also someone ripped his Patreon to 4chan and posted all his NSFW pornography on there. I feel unclean looking at it and am a little hesitant to post it up here.

Actually his ex said earlier in a thread that he got the name from an experimental music track he made where he talked in gibberish and repeatedly said shmorky over and over. It's apparently just his own made up thing he grew fond of.
