BEIRUT, Sept 17 (Reuters) - More than 1,000 people, including Hezbollah fighters and medics, were wounded on Tuesday when the pagers they use to communicate exploded across Lebanon, security sources told Reuters.
A Hezbollah official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the detonation of the pagers was the "biggest security breach" the group had been subjected to in nearly a year of war with Israel.
Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah have been engaged in cross-border warfare since the Gaza war erupted last October, the worst such escalation in years.

The Israeli military declined to comment on Reuters enquiries about the detonations.
Iran's Mehr news agency said the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, was injured by one of the blasts. Reuters could not immediately confirm the report.
A Reuters journalist saw ambulances rushing through the southern suburbs of the capital Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold, amid widespread panic. A security source said that devices were also exploding in the south of Lebanon.

At Mt. Lebanon hospital, a Reuters reporter saw motorcycles rushing to the emergency room, where people with their hands bloodied were screaming in pain.
The head of the Nabatieh public hospital in the south of the country, Hassan Wazni, told Reuters that around 40 wounded people were being treated at his facility. The wounds included injuries to the face, eyes and limbs.
The wave of explosions lasted around an hour after the initial detonations, which took place about 3:45 p.m. local time (1345 GMT). It was not immediately clear how the devices were detonated.

Lebanese internal security forces said a number of wireless communication devices were detonated across Lebanon, especially in Beirut's southern suburbs, leading to injuries.
Groups of people huddled at the entrance of buildings to check on people they knew who may have been wounded, the Reuters journalist said.
Regional broadcasters carrying CCTV footage which showed what appeared to be a small handheld device placed next to a grocery store cashier where an individual was paying spontaneously exploding. In other footage, an explosion appeared to knock out someone standing at a fruit stand at a market area.

Lebanon’s crisis operations center, which is run by the health ministry, asked all medical workers to head to their respective hospitals to help cope with the massive numbers of wounded coming into for urgent care. It said health care workers should not use pagers.
The Lebanese Red Cross said more than 50 ambulances and 300 emergency medical staff were dispatched to assist in the evacuation of victims.

Hezbollah fired missiles at Israel immediately after the Oct. 7 attacks by Hamas gunmen on Israel. Hezbollah and Israel have been exchanging fire constantly ever since, while avoiding a major escalation as war rages in Gaza to the south.
Tens of thousands of people have been displaced from towns and villages on both sides of the border by the hostilities.

From OSINT

What we know so far:
- Explosion happened simultanously
- Explosions didn't only happen in Lebanon, but in Syria too so it's a long range to be wireless detonation signal.
- The pager is 'Rugged Pager AR924' produced by a Taiwanese company
- Small Li-Ion battery, can't explode that big
- None of the pagers caught fire, which is common incase of a battery 'explosion' rather they just exploded.
- However the pagers did heat up before
- All exploded pagers were the same model of pager.
- The pagers came from one shipment

Also pretty shitty headline considering this was an attack that could only hit Hezbollah members

Video of the attacks

The U.S. has been harboring groups (Alpha 66, F4 Commandos, Cuban American National Foundation, Brothers to the Rescue, etc.) engaged in terrorism against Cuba that has resulted in civilian death.

Imagine the reaction if Cuba had detonated pagers of these groups' members on U.S. soil.

Just because Israel does it doesn't make it right. This is evil and reckless.

is it possible for an entire terrorist organization to become a lolcow?
Israel = Music Biz Marty
Hezbollah/Hamas/Iran = Cyraxx

It's fitting. Marty is rich Jew who fucks with people for shekels and teh lulz, and Cyraxx is a tiny, disgusting, angry little retarded pedophile pervert who talks a whole bunch of shit, then gets owned every time.

They bought pagers from Motorola, and they are under some military contracts from Israel. It's probably a wake up call to any foreign Government that if you use anything made in the West, it can be weaponized against you, even to assassinate you. I imagine a lot of orders being made to Russia, China and Iran now. 🤔🤔
They're not Motorola lol, syriangirl is lying to you. I put the name of the pager in the OP, it's the AR924. These were bought by igrc and shipped to Lebanon by them

i called you a faggot and a retard because if you had read the article you'd see that they didn't ship them through israel. they got them through iran. you didn't read the thread opening article, and chimed in like a retarded nigger. buy a pager from radioshack. i never thought i'd personally witness someone failing the breakfast question when i asked it. thank you for obliterating my sides, my week has actually been pretty shitty up until this thread.

You're an absolute fool if you think I bothered to read the article and waded in here trying to have a serious discussion. I was just shitposting, if I wasn't I would have been effortposting. Your join date is 2019, you're not even new to this forum. Can you not tell the difference?

"The breakfast question" what the fuck is the breakfast question? Let me guess you're some zoomer who spends his time in terminally online spaces and expects everyone else to know what that means.

I'm glad to hear you're laughing though because you've been acting like a child having a fit this entire thread. Hopefully it will help you calm down and clear your head. Maybe go get yourself a toy at McDonalds and really turn this shitty week around.

Here is recent news article on the pager explosions.

Exploding Hezbollah devices reportedly issued in recent days

A series of explosions shook different areas in Lebanon Tuesday, mainly the Dahieh district controlled by Hezbollah, with local reports indicating that over a thousand people were injured. According to publications on Arab networks, the exploding devices were beepers, outdated devices in low-tech technology used by the terrorist organization Hezbollah to avoid Israeli surveillance, which were distributed to operatives in recent days.

Iran's ambassador to Lebanon was reportedly among those wounded in the blasts, which have been blamed on Israel.

According to an article published last May by Reuters, Hezbollah has adopted low-tech technologies to counter the advanced Israeli technological capabilities. The group uses couriers, bans mobile phones, and encrypts their communications, but pagers are also employed.

An outdated technology popular in the 1980s and 1990s, pagers (also known as beepers) are able to receive short messages.

Reports said that the model that explosion was the Taiwan-made Gold Apollo AR-924 model.

The nature of the attack is still unclear, with the explosions seen in footage appearing to be significantly different than overheated batteries blowing up. Whether this indicates that the pagers were tampered with in production, transit, or storage of the devices remains to be seen.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has warned in his speeches that "The mobile phone is the enemy's deadly spy."

Yeah definitely wouldn't be anything suspicious about something coming out of China or Iran.

wow this is really impressive. I am sure a lot of enthusiasts will be studying this operation for years and all the moving parts and planning that needed to come together to make it work. From a moral perspective I have no Dog(Zero) in this fight, either could win and I don't care, either as a Christian or an American (even if my government is under the delusion this area of land is of strategic importance to US security).

From a strategic perspective however, I feel like the current Israeli government fundamentally misunderstands the sort of conflict they are fighting. From how they have dealt with Gaza, to the also technically impressive assassinations a few months ago, to this, Israel seems to be under the misguided presumption that it is fighting a war of attrition. The problem is when just considering the basic numbers on each side, and the dynamics at play this is a war of attrition which cannot be won. Ultimately Israel is a nation with 6 million people with less than 100 miles of strategic depth, where half live in a single city, surrounded by hundreds of millions of fundamental ontological enemies. These numbers simply do not add up when fighting an attritional war.

What previous Israeli governments have partially understood, and what is true, is that this rather is more akin to a spiritual war. Or to get away from theology perhaps we will say a psychic war. The fact is, in an all-out conflict, if every neighboring Muslim state was to fight a full-scale war with Israel, it would lose. This is not the 70s anymore, especially if we count Iran. If the will was truly there, Israel would lose. Even if the ratio was monstrous against the Muslims. Of course, however the will has not been there, not even close, for a very long time. What this means is that Israel should care more about breaking and forestalling the will of its enemies to fight than just in purely attritional accomplishments like this or destroying Hamas in Gaza down to the last tunnel in a Stalingrad tier urban battle.

Someone earlier in the thread pointed out the adage that if you wound one enemy you neutralize three. Let us take this as true and say half of Hezbollah is now neutralized, the planned imminent attack now forestalled. A decisive operational victory which can easily turn into a massive strategic defeat if it inspires 1 million more Muslims to join the fight against Israel, and their deaths in a similarly attritional way inspire all their children politically. And make no mistake but that is what you do when you create martyrs using tactics like this, including attacks in otherwise not directly engaged nations. Manpower has never been the limiting factor of Israel's enemies. It's the cheapest thing you can take from them. I am not saying "if you kill your enemies they win", but for Israel's particular situation, the numbers are NEVER going to add up in purely an attritional strategy. It is possible to break a people's morale and will and still kill some, in fact it is usually necessary. But the way you do it, the culpability, and the concurrent political and diplomatic horse-trading alongside it is essential. Previous Israeli governments were better at this.

For those who view Israel as a western colonial enterprise, representing evil and Satan itself. A nation whom your God commands you to destroy and promises you eternal life in pursuit of martyrdom, a nation that has inspired fighters with little more than rocks to continue to fight against it despite a decade long siege and significant bombing do you think 2000 mutilating pagers are going to make them stop caring and go back to regular life, or just inspire more anger, more confirmation in the ultimate evil of their adversary and more resistance. Again, if 5% of its enemies took up arms it would be twice Israel's entire population. For every 1 person inspired to directly fight Israel 3 more are inspired to get involved politically to build the societal will to destroy it. Just look at the Muslim brotherhood in Egypt which almost took over that nation. How do you think they would be responding to Gaza if they had not been ejected by the Egyptian military? And that movement's heirs are just as large now as it was back then. A movement that despite being repressed and banned represents more than Israel's entire population just by its operations within Egypt. When gaza gets annexed and another refugee crisis is set off in the direction of egypt do you think this movement will shrink?

Israel will never win an attritional war and will never simply kill all its enemies regardless of how competent they are operationally. Until they realize the war, they are fighting is psychic and not attritional they will continue to alienate their allies that secure their very existence and stand as the last psychic barrier to mustering the Muslim will for invasion and just create new fighters against them. So yeah, this operation is pretty impressive, but I think it is just another in a long line of strategic miscalculations this current Israeli administration has bought into with serious long-term consequences.

Imagine taking sides in any form of sandnigger conflict when you don't live in a sandnigger shithole. Couldn't be me. Guess I just didn't get the "eternal abrahamic conflict" programming like the rest of the west or something.

This is absolutley based and hilarious. Fuck arabs and terrorists.

Why wouldn't the high quality spying device also be able to explode on command? Pagers in particular have stellar range, even working deep in basements, in elevators and in underground tunnels.
Small point of order: its not that pagers have range, its that since its just single channel unsecured comms, repeaters are cheap and easy and don't stop on each other like Wifi can. Everyone who needed pagers to work put repeaters in thier building already.
