In fact, the Tet Offensive - which the leftist-communist news media proclaimed a massive success for the VC and NVA, and said turned the tide of the Vietnam War - was a massive failure on part of the VC and NVA. They gained no territory, lost tens of thousands of combatants, expended huge amounts of materiel, and blew a ton of intelligence assets. No minor or major objectives achieved. Yet, right after the enemy operation concludes, DNC party stooges like Walter Cronkite declare victory for the enemy.

Soldiers in Vietnam tried to point out that they watered the Viet Cong and NVA, and that they won the fight, but commies were too busy convincing everyone that the USA was an evil empire and all the soldiers were raping babies. Very few Americans back then believed it, evidenced by Nixon's political victories. This is why the deep state got rid of Nixon: their attempt to brainwash the US public failed. Right after claiming Vietnam was lost, Nixon won his election. It gets even more insane when you look into the effectiveness of the Phoenix Program and its successor, CORDS. The US and the South Vietnamese reached a point in the early 1970's where the Viet Cong could not carry out any operations because they were all afraid of walking into a bushwhack. They got the Viet Cong to start killing each other on suspicion that everyone was an informant. Total disruption.

This is why I say that Vietnamization worked. The programs in place did what they were supposed to do. It was shitbirds like Joe Biden who rushed US withdrawal and left the Vietnamese to the tender mercies of the communists.

Yet there are people right now - in this very thread - who will swear up and down that the US had no chance in Vietnam, just as they were successfully programmed to do.

The only victory of the Tet Offensive is that the commies convinced some Americans that the Vietnam War was lost. Again: the Tet Offensive ended in March 1968. Nixon won the election in November. Americans were not opposed to the Vietnam War nearly as much as they were LBJ's handling of it.

In fact, the Tet Offensive ruined American's view of how LBJ handled the war, not so much the war overall. Democrats have successfully lied about this.

I'm not kidding when I say that the casualty differences between the US/South Vietnamese and the Viet Cong/NVA are stark. It was not a huge cost to us or the South Vietnamese considering what the communists expended on that operation.

Also, I don't know why you're going to bat for Walter Cronkite, who was literally in favor of one world government. You will be very, very hard-pressed to convince me or anyone else that Walter Cronkite was some disillusioned, red-blooded Cold Warrior.
