Speaking of that. I was curious how a Kei truck actually fairs during a crash.

Here's a video of a Kei truck vs a Ford Ranger

The reason I keep harping on this is there is nothing that will make a Kei truck safer. Even if you remove every other vehicle on the road larger than it including garbage trucks and buses. Kei trucks are still a threat to other Kei trucks let alone other vehicles since the core facet of their design is that they have no hood.

No joke the amount of collisions I've seen with trailer hitches involved has inspired me to want one as a deterrent against people rolling into the back of my car while looking at their phone.
Fascinating, im now curious on how some smaller footprint vehicles that still have a small truck bed would fare in crash tests, during my travels in spic lands ive encountered vehicles like the Ram 700/Fiat Strada. Im somewhat curious on the crash test and how an average anti car bugmanite would react to that (although the most common answer would probably be "continue banning until only buses are road legal")

You can make a quite small vehicle be pretty good in a crash if good is defined as “the passengers survive” - just put lots of the storage area up front and around the passenger compartment and design it for safety..
That’s one of the main reasons why Teslas have a front trunk even though they don’t need an engine bay.

An electric truck that looked somewhat like a shunter would be cool as hell.

Of course it’s NYC. Last trip there I saw exactly two cyclists who stopped at red lights. They were also the only two non-spandex wearing cyclists I saw wearing helmets.

Another NYC cyclist story: Central Park has a ring road that used to be open to cars but is now bike only. There are numerous traffic lights and crosswalks throughout and cyclists are supposed to stop to let pedestrians cross. I almost got hit in one of the crosswalks by a cyclist going full racing speed through a red light. He swore at me for making him dodge and I yelled back at him calling him a dumbass who needs to look at the lights. On his next lap, he again swore at me as he rode past. Even on a car-free road they’re still assholes.

Looks like an Alley Cat race. Those are fascinating to watch, but also absolute insanity.

I've been out of the loop for a little while trying to avoid these people but it seems I can never get away from them. Has anybody else noticed a massive increase in bugman content being pushed on social media lately?

I've attached just one example from today. I don't interact with these pages at all, don't search for urbanist content, don't react or comment to the posts, and always hit "don't show me this again" but I'm still bombarded with at least 2-3 posts like this per day. It's always from some profile like this that would be unassuming if you stumbled onto it, unlike something like r/fuckcars. I wanna know who else is experiencing this and more importantly how much money is being spent cramming this down our throats.

It's amazing how utterly suicidal cyclists are. Blowing red lights, racing past moving cars, thinking they won't get hit, it's all crazy. And it's YOUR fault if something happens. So gay.

That video looks familiar, I'm pretty sure it's by some dude that's been mentioned here a couple times before but I don't remember the name. Notorious for videoing himself and a bunch of other people riding like maniacs across new york, there's multiple videos of them hitting cars/breaking mirrors and running off. Anyone remember the channel?

An urbanist is very mad that no one agrees with him:

Did you notice the diversity of the commentors? People from the US, Russia, Poland, Czech Republic, UAE, France, Australia, Canada, and many more countries all laughed at the urbanist. Urbanism isn't popular anywhere in the world.

Good thing 99% of Kei Trucks have the steering wheel on the right side.

The irony is, there isn't any research to support that taking away lanes for bicycles and public transportation is going to solve any issues. They're so dead-set on "muh induced demand" that they forget that the paper mentioned more public transit wouldn't help. And then what, say that the paper is wrong? That introduces a whole can of worms because it would invalidate the whole idea.

RIP passenger I suppose. Since the truck is so small I wouldn't be worried about it accidentally going over the center line (although I wouldn't discount that from happening), rather it's things like hitting stationary objects like walls or being pushed into the car in front in the case of a three car collision.

To be fair to the kei truck, I think it should be classified as a deformed motorcycle + sidecar; as those are already deathtraps since they can do 100+ MPH and, well, they're called organ donor cycles for a reason.

Looks like that highway needs some more exits.
