The Hugo is a bullshit, feel good ass pat award for minorities now. No one takes it seriously anymore after the last two years.

Watching white liberals continue to try and amplify N.K. Jemisin's shit writing is proof of that. She has a terrible short story now featured on wired for some reason...hmmm can't put my finger on it maybe it's affirmative action?

A review of Frank's strategy: about 300 people generally bothered voting in the years when Frank won Hugos. By 2013 (picked because it's the last year before the Hugos got taken over by Gamergate nonsense) that total roughly tripled. The "Fan Writer" category" generally garners around the same range of voters as "Fan Artist", and "Short Story" maybe 50% more.

So, in order for Frank to win a Hugo, he's got to get out there in the convention scene and really press the flesh, in order to roughly quadruple his raw total of voters. And this understates the true problem, because Frank actually was the best fan artist in the years he won (the competition being truly dire) In writing... well, we just saw for ourselves. Pretty much he's got to go out and make a few hundred new friends willing to vote him in over more qualified candidates to score that Hugo. Good luck, man.

Clearly the white dudes who run the Hugo's are intimidated by an Asian male who doesn't play into the nerd stereotype and can't appreciate his genius. it's a conspiracy against him, just like gamergate.

Seriously though, good luck to him. He's probably a half decent writer weighed down by a toxic ideology and an even more toxic "wife" who will so nothing to help his chances of winning. Having Brianna as a partner has to be the single worst thing to Frank's reputation as a writer. The SJW crowd who hover around the Hugo's probably already know about her and her reputation which is going to rub off on frank. Secondly, I wonder if Brianna would let Frank attend a con by himself in order to build up a following. I can only see her tagging along to inflate her own ego and take "quirky couple" pictures.

Since you're clearly being sincere about wanting to understand chan culture and not just scrounging around a husk of a website that hasn't been relevant for almost a decade, you feel free to drop on in and ask your shit. She's not doing this, and even if she was, she'd be scrolling through an ocean of trip threads and memes from 2008. Besides which, if you're looking for the asshole of the internet, there's like a dozen sites that people still actually post on.

Based on the reviews of his previous submission...

Pro: Nice concept: alien stranded on earth gains control of ants and gets them to return it to space.

Con: Unfortunately, the story is riddled with editorializing, info dumps, POV shifts, etc. The characters are never very important to the story, and toward the end it's nothing but pages of pure narration. The final result--that the alien was from the moon--is really hard to believe knowing what we know about the moon.

A premise that at first will remind the elderly among readers of the classic “Leiningen Versus the Ants”. But these are not normal ants. And although the text is packed full of neat myrmecology neep, attempts to read it as science are bound to fail. There’s no normal way that normal ants could have evolved instantaneously to behave as the story describes them. Readers will need to shift protocols; this is science fantasy with its roots in perhaps the oldest scientific romance, although executed in contemporary scientific terms.

I found it quite engaging, but I really wish the author had left it at that; alas, instead we have a gratuitous human-interest subplot added, with a love story between two of the scientists. It’s not convincing, it requires backstory that just isn’t present, and it isn’t necessary.

Ants are behaving strangely in Australia. They are forming large swarms with several species working together in an unprecedented manner. A pair of scientists are studying them and trying to defeat the apparent threat. The ants travel to autonomous areas governed by aborigines. There they start to build something. The story starts pretty well, but seems to decay towards the end. It is too hurried and eventually very implausible. The romance parts felt pretty awkward, but the participants were awkward people.

Most of the stories were fairly decent this issue - with notable exception so bad it lowered the rating for this issue: Frank Wu's novelette, "Season of the Ants in the Timeless Land". Wu's story starts out alright, but the ending? Maybe if this tale had been published in an early issue of "Astounding Stories" or in a current issue of "The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction" it might have been received better. But in today's "Analog"? A publication noted for leaning towards hard science tales? The ending to Wu's "Season of the Ants" is so.. bizarre, the novelette might as well have an of EC's "Weird Science" comic book title. The rest of the stories found in the November 2015 edition of "Analog Science Fiction & Fiction" weren't too bad, with one or two highlights ("Baby Steps" and "Evangelist". But those stories aren't good enough to raise the rating nor overcome how crappy Frank Wu's entry is.

I'd say lack of talent is probably his worst detriment as a writer. Although being married to Brianna certainly can't help (with anything)

Some likely know, but they'll keep parroting the message in order to virtue signal and not go against the narrative, regardless of how out-dated it might be.

As for the rest of his asspatters, never underestimate the power of stupidity. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if they still believed that a shadowy cabal of Guy Fawkes mask wearing sociopaths ran the dark underbelly of the net, orchestrating doxings, assassinations on gays and trannies, and swatting poor, innocent POCs just for teh lulz.
