First off, Obama did not pull out of Iraq. The Manning leak forced the US to exit. Jalal Talabani told Obama that if US forces did not leave after those leaks, the entire government would topple. Talabani refused to sign a status of forces agreement. That decision was not Obama's. This is a major reason why the US government hates Wikileaks and anyone associated with them.

Second off, Obama gave Medvedev and Putin a chance. It was a foreign policy gesture of good faith on his part. The result was bad, yes, but it is ultimately a key factor which explains current US and NATO policy towards Russia: we gave them an inch and they took a mile. However, given @Useful_Mistake's warning yesterday, I am loathe to continue down this point any further.

Anyway, I'm not trying to defend The Chocolate Messiah - I was not a fan - but he did not make the decision to get us out of Iraq and his position on Russia was an "okay, we'll trust you this time" that the Russians quickly squandered. That was a deliberate foreign policy move by Obama to let Putin hang himself and he did.

I agree. His independence from the Establishment's influence makes him a wild card they can't fully control, and that's a major threat tptb. As an outsider who doesn't rely on their funding or approval, Trump is free to disrupt the status quo and challenge the entrenched interests that have held power for so long.
