The only reason why I'm interested in Zelensky meeting Trump is because of this (comments on the article linked), it's just going to lead to massive salt rocks to mine. Even more so since Zelensky is the one who asked to meet with Trump, not viceversa.

VZ is doing what he needs to do, he has no choice.

American economics is built on international trade. Certain kinds of conflicts are disruptive to regular trade and shipping, so it's worthwhile to spend money to try and prevent those before they happen or keep them from getting worse. The Houthis messing with Red Sea shipping would be one example, but more broadly the withdrawal of much of the Middle East from the oil market in the event of a larger regional conflict not confined within one country's borders would be very disruptive to the oil market and have lots of negative implications for shipping, manufacturing, and domestic standards of living. A broader land war in Europe stemming from Russia feeling like they can reclaim their old satellites would also mess (more than current) with food prices and cut demand for American products as local markets are either shunted into war production or destroyed.

I doubt the US government running the dollar printing press nonstop for a few years only to immediately shovel billions of dollars of aid and equipment to Ukraine without any agreement to pay us back is helping the situation.
