I fucking hate the word "escalation". It implies things that are not operative in a war. War is the final point of escalation. There is no escalation past it. People who start wars should not bitch about escalation. The escalation already happened. Now is the time for consequences. These are consequences. Not escalations.

The Archduke was a heir apparent to the throne of the Austrian-Hungarian empire. His assassination triggered a constitutional crisis and a succession war that unraveled into World War 1 as neighboring European empires started claiming their land.

Nasrallah is the leader of a terrorist group that was acting as a proxy for Iran. They do not possess any territory other than land they forced away from the Lebonese government. The only wars that will happen after his death is territorial wars by other partisans and proxies to fill in the turf that his group left behind.

He was not a country leader and his death will not throw any governments into crisis. They are not the same.
