I can imagine the AW/FE community will be boycotting and shitting on the game since the developers dared go for Mangs and are thus rapists too

Mekkah made a shitty video about it I think 2 years ago, another guy made a pretty great response to it.
This MageKnight guy is pretty much hounding and still making videos on anyone who collaborates with Mangs.
Yes, it was a nothing drama but Mangs is doing well now, I think he is worth checking out now.

My favorites are the Speedwing fans who are only just now learning, and are heartbroken, that he and Mangs talk to each other, which is abundantly clear if you watch literally any of his streams or even just look at the comments of any of his videos. That's yet another opportunity that I could use to make fun of Fire Emblem Fan reading comprehension. I should really be keeping a list. There's a whole manifesto just waiting to be written about it.

On AWBW, from my very limited understanding of it, trannies have tried time and time again to get into positions of power in that community to little success. I've seen a few complaints from trannies about how that community doesn't toe the stinkditch line. From what I remember, AWBW got it's start on /v/ forever ago, so it might be a situation where the guy(s) in charge know to not budge to their histrionics. I don't have many fingers on that community, but with the current state of le epic 4cuckers compared to how they used to be, it's surprising to see that kind of obstinance.

AW with its more grounded and modest character designs seems to give troons less to latch on.
Perhaps this it too niche for even them?
The Warside creators reaching out to Mangs made me think they want to reach out to an AW content creator and he is the only one big enough but maybe they just also don't kowtow to troons or view the "scandal" as the nothingburger that it was.

Probably has more to do with AW being a dead IP when the tranny stuff really started gaining traction. 2010s was mostly a dead decade for SRGPs; once the 3DS rolled around it was Fire Emblem or nothing for most people in the west, especially younger zoomers. A particularly illustrative example is that a lot of people would (and still do) compare Pokemon Conquest to Fire Emblem despite Conquest having very little in common with it beyond a shared genre and already being a spinoff of an established strategy series.

I disagree, troons really don't need any particular reason to latch onto something in the first place beyond autism (off the top of my head, Pizza Tower, Deep Rock Galactic (Dani Doyle, coincidentally, is a big fan of that), and something like Warhammer, but all of these are significantly more popular and have recency on their side) and Advance Wars has the angle of nostalgia and designs like Nell, Lash, Sonja, Rachel, Kindle, Sasha, and Sami for the AGPs to 'literally me' all over themselves to. Wayforward Lash especially. I'd also argue that they would consider niche-ness a boon, as, since the pool is smaller, points of power are less contested in those communities and more easy to overwhelm through sheer autistic pervasiveness and numbers.
To me, Warside reaching out to Mangs just seems as simple as him being the most practical option to get eyes on it. Advance Wars youtube isn't like FE youtube (or even just general SRPG/TRPG youtube) where there are a lot of 'safer' options to pick from. Most of the AW names, from what I know, are people deep into AWBW doing replay analyses/similar hardcore gamer niche stuff, and, importantly, don't have the same quality of presentation as Mangs does. Mangs both has the racket on the more casual side of that potential playerbase, as well as the experience and technical knowhow to make it look palatable to them in a professional way; choosing him is a foregone conclusion to anyone with a lick of sense, which I'm pretty certain those devs have, as is reflected in the visual design. Sure, some of the CO portraits aren't especially ~*inspired*~, but it's notable how much effort is placed into capturing the classic AW aesthetic compared to the recent Wayforward remake, and especially compared to the Tumblr nightmare that is Wargroove and Wargroove 2, whose first foot they put forward is a fat sassy black lady dreadlock pirate. Gee, I wonder why AW chuds aren't shifting over to the alternatives.
Sure, Warside has it's Token too, but at least he's not front and center, and he at least looks cool.

I was curious about the state of things when Mudlink said nobody wanted to watch Mekkah's videos and holy shit. The state of things over there is pretty dire. He's got just over 70K subs and he struggles to pull in a 7th of that in on videos that are a few weeks old. I sincerely hope he was never counting on YouTube as a main source of income because that 'aint gonna happen like this.

He really needs a better cohost than raisins. Raisins is too similar in temperament to him and they have nothing to play off of. Mekkah is a decent fe player just has the personality of cardboard. Same with raisins.
Also Mekkah has never tried to make YouTube his main job iirc. He’s said his hope is to have it replace his side job (sounded like Uber driver or something gig economy like that) but that was a long time ago.
Mangs isn’t even that great of a streamer but he blew up because he’s one of the only ppl in the space not totally boring to watch.

Mekkah is/was a teacher as far as I remember, so even if his channel is dying I don't think it is anything other than an outlet for autism, a side hustle, and to creep on his "designer" that eggtard ended up getting with for a bit anyways.

I think the real reason is that Mekkah is just a charisma vacuum. He's nobody's 'favorite' youtuber. He probably isn't even very many people's favorite FE tuber. He's a toast sandwich.

I've always liked Mekkah as a co-host and dare I say he's the best at it. He did bounce really well with Mangs' recklessness and dondon's assertiveness, but as a main commentator? Yeah it just feels off.
Which is quite a shame, because I believe his best videos were the ones where he just took the backseat and let other people talk, and that's fine, straight men are interesting, but they don't have much of a point when the atmosphere is already calm.

I think it's a bit different. Mangs made Mekkah more fun. He could me more crass and edgey because the law of the land hadn't been set in stone yet. Symbolically, the 2020 incident represents the gay polarization of FE YouTube. By making FE youtube's biggest personality persona non grata, you essentially bury whatever attitudes you can associate with him. And Mekkah followed suit essentially burying what little personality he had.

I'm actually in the progress of watching all the Mangs and Mekkah lets plays again and this is just bang on the money right.
The two did bounce off of each other and Mekkah wasn't exactly boring, just the straight man.
Just finished their FE11 playthrough and am now starting the FE9 one, its really good background noise.
The point of no return for me was when Mekkah announced he would essentially blacklist anyone who still works with Mangs, doing literal guilt by association against completely unrelated people.
It is a true shame, their chemistry was really good.
