If that's legitimate, senior command being apathetic and indifferent to the plight of the common soldier sounds about right for the modern US military. The government likes the 82nd for foreign policy purposes since it is used for the Immediate Response Force that is capable of deploying within 18 hours of notification. It is unfortunate that such capabilities are not being used domestically for disaster relief purposes right now.

To be fair, wouldn't the National Guard be activated for natural disasters like this? The 82nd Airborne are a fighting force. I understand the soldiers worrying about their loved ones, but the 82nd Airborne have a different purpose.

The entire swing states are trending to trump right now and national polling still remains above 3-4% towards Harris. It's almost like national polling has become trash all of sudden.

Raw aggregate polling numbers are going to be pretty useless unless you have some reason to believe that the people who complete your poll are representative of those who will actually vote and how they'll actually vote. Even then the popular vote is not a great indicator of the electoral votes.

Forecasting the outcome of the election is an interesting problem, but as far as I can tell there is a significant cost to getting the raw data you'd need to do a good job and no guarantee that people's answers will reflect their actual votes.

It's funny to watch them still try and sell the idea that the polls are even with a slight slant towards Kamala right now when:
-Democratic party identification has surged to a record low, which has been shown to closely follows popular vote outcomes.
-Kamala has the worst support of any Democrat among union members in like 50 years.
-Her support among young men, especially white men, is dismal.
-Her support among Latino voters in Arizona is halved compared to Biden's 2020 numbers.
-Her support among Muslims in Michigan, a key demographic for Biden's 2020 win, is only 12%. (Trump has 18%, most of them are voting for Jill Stein for some reason?)
-Losing ground with Catholics, will only get worse when she skips the Al Smith Dinner later this month.
-The biggest third party since Ross Perot dropped out to endorse Trump.

I'd already stopped caring about the polls years ago, but that last one was the biggest piece of nonsense they've ever pushed. RFK was polling at something like 5%, so realistically that endorsement should've bumped Trump's numbers up like 3% minimum. Nope, they were saying it did absolutely nothing.

They do have a shitload of helicopters in the 82nd that could be put to use. However the 160th SOAR unit with all their Little Birds would be ideal for sling loading supplies to all sorts of weird places.
