Those are big talking points that can turn the tide of an election. Being neutral about divisive positions like that can allow voters to form their OWN opinions of the candidate themselves without any distraction.

... By not providing the candidate's genuine position on those things? If elections are honestly won and lost based purely on the right to kill babies, I would argue the country is a giant failure and these elections don't matter anymore.
