I was so damn happy when Kamala picked Walz over Shapiro. I feel utterly vindicated tonight.

Vance didn't even bring up that Walz lied about his military rank for years, something that I would have done if I were him. But I see the wisdom in just letting your opponent have enough rope to hang himself. Walz looked like a bumbling fool for 2 hours.

Ultimately VP's don't really don't have that much of a sway, if an admin/campaign fails they generally just serve as fall guys (see Palin, Quayle). But with all the shit that's dropped today this was a cherry on top of the Shit Sundae for the Democrats, their momentum is gone. The October Surprise arrived precisely on October 1st.

I think Vance is now the presumptive Presidential Nominee for 2028. We haven't seen such a smooth talker since Obama.

It just won't, unfortunately. Switching running mates in the final stretch of the campaign is them basically handing over the Presidency to Trump and also possibly the down ballot. It would absolutely depress and deflate the Dem voters from voting at all, one would think.

Any bad publicity Walz generated by his performance tonight would be dwarfed by a potential announcement saying Harris is removing him from the campaign. It's too late to change course even if they wanted to.

The moderators wanted to ask Vance some kind of question that would make him look bad, but they're not MSNBC levels of awful so they had to give Walz a similar question as well. I don't think he knew that it was coming and was expecting a question about his military service instead. If Walz did know about it, he handled it so poorly that he ended up calling more attention to the issue than getting ahead of any rumors with his response.

She’s had surgery to look younger, but not enough to look entirely plastic. Her make up and other cosmetics are helping hide her age. I like women who try to hide jowls without surgery because the surgery makes them look alien.

I got in a big argument with a leftie acquaintance of mine about the border czar thing, but the thing is, the president appoints people to handle specific tasks and the media just calls those "czars." They have other titles though, it's a convenient short hand.

So yes, if it was any other person given Kamala's task, they would have been regarded as a border czar. She just didn't want the job or responsibility, so she ran from it and now has the pay for how terrible that makes her look, or hope people just forget about it.

Needless to say they deleted my messages when I linked to articles from left-center publications where she was called the border czar before she declared that was now how she identified.
