Question, if i have windows running in KVM and have the opportunity to dedicate an entire sata ssd to it, is it better to mount it in the host and put windows in an image file in it, or can i pass the drive itself to Windows to mount and use directly?

For internal drives (so not optical media), I'd personally keep them as images to make them more portable and keep them separate from the host, unless you need some insane levels of stealth. Disk passthrough is just more work with not a lot of benefit unless you want to switch between bare metal and virtualization on the same installation.

Are you on Debian or something?
Gentoo on my main box. It has GCC14, but it's unstable (~amd64) .. and I do install a lot of unstable stuff, but I'm hesitant to pull in ~amd64/gcc just for the latest Hyprland.

I'm on VoidLinux on my laptops and they do not have gcc14 at all. It's not even being tracked as an issue in the Void package tree. There's a Hyprland custom repo for Void since the Void team is also full of dipshits that close down any Hyprland requests that are made without any reason listed;

Void might end up as a dead distribution before long if they don't stop being pussies.

But that was enough to shun him from their projects, label him a Nazi, and then start making up more allegations to tarnish his reputation further.
This is why you don't even try to appease these freaks. Anything short of spending your entire life sucking girldick gets you on their shitlist, so you might as well just have fun.

It's better to be an enemy of these evil fucks than their "allies," i.e. their passive catamites.

That bullshit with hyprland was what made me nuke my one Void install. I was hoping it would be a replacement main distro for my Endeavour box. I liked its support for musl and default runit and that it was a community based, non corporate distro thats truly independent.

Very disappointing to find out its troon central, they are the original Nix(taken over by troons that kicked out the founder). Bans useful software like Brave and Hyprland because the devs literally just don't like anyone who doesn't suck girlcock (no literally, you can offer to package Brave/Hyprland yourself, they won't allow you to). Fuck any distro that does that shit. I hope it dies.

It was crazy but quite interesting because it all started with a troon from Red Hat's CoC team.
They're all in it together. Funny how the same bullshit always comes from IBM/Red Hat/systemd/gnome/freedesktop people.

What are you talking about? Both Brave and Hyprland are readily available on Nix.
The only instance I can think of where trannies kicked a package off the repo was some minor drama over a minecraft launcher, I didn't care enough to look into the details. Nix has one of the largest package repos around, since its whole deal is that it's cross-platform.

lol, package proprietary software and then software that requires a more updated toolchain than what's in the repos? yeah of fucking course you can't do that on Void

People are way too passive on the tranny issue. You cannot afford to be passive with people who think the idea of your wife and kids getting raped and you being exterminated is hilarious. "They just want to live their own lives quietly" doesn't work when they are actively pushing for every facet of society to cater to their genital mutilation fetish.

Tying back to Linux/OSS in general, way too many project maintainers have had their shit destroyed by trannies because they've been passive enough to let them get into positions of power. Given an inch, they will always take their mile and then some. Don't let them.

Imo the "gray rock" treatment you use for other kinds of narcs works with troons too if you are in some situation where you can't just get rid of them or chuck a slur at them, like a work thing. Just don't react to their bullshit. They might still freak out but even a woke HR isn't going to go after the one who isn't histrionically screaming (and if you are in such a place you had probably best get out anyway because you will ultimately get fucked regardless).

Go ahead and explain to the class how Brave is proprietary. This will be fun.
Build it from source yourself and report back on how many features are broken. Now, would source-built Brave be good for inclusion in a package repo?

Or, well, we could just install the official binary but wait a minute

The executable code version of the Brave browser is made available under the terms set forth below. Source code for parts of the Brave browser may be available for use under open source licenses and accessible via https://github.com/brave. Nothing in this Agreement will be construed to limit any rights granted under such open source licenses with respect to code specifically covered by such licenses.

Subject to the terms hereof, Brave grants you a personal, non-exclusive license to install and use the executable code version of the Brave browser. Brave and its licensors shall retain all intellectual property rights in the Brave browser (and Service), except for the rights expressly granted in this Agreement. You may not remove or alter any trademark, or logo (collectively, “Marks”), copyright or other proprietary notice on the Brave browser. This license does not grant you any right to use Marks of Brave or its licensors. If you breach this Agreement, the above license and your right to use the Brave browser will terminate immediately and without notice. Upon termination, you must destroy all copies of the Brave browser.

This sound proprietary or no?

What's up lately with the Linux kernel release schedule? https://kernel.org/ We're just at 6.11.1, probably missing a bunch of fixes, when 6.12-rc1 (the first "release candidate" for 6.12) is already out? Did Greg K.H. die or something?

Are you retarded or dishonest? I can't tell.

The code is open and browsable. It is expressly licensed under the MPL 2.0. Just because you are too retarded to build it on your shitbox doesn't mean a damn thing.
The rest is you bitching about the logo and name and whatnot that come with a downloadable executable being copyrighted, which every major open source project does, including Firefox. Don't take my word for it - as a matter of fact, Firefox is even stronger about it. And they're right to be.
Are they proprietary? I'll answer that for you, no they're not. Unless you want to go full Stallman, in which case, you better be using the libre kernel and post proof of it.

I don't know what the schedule is normally like. But I think 6.11 is the new LTS, and 6.12 has some shiny stuff like sched_ext and PREEMPT_RT they might be eager to release.

Since I think you're probably too fucking stupid to compile programs from source, I'll just spoil it for you. Do you know what you get if you compile Brave from source? You get Chromium with Brave branding. None of the Brave-specific features work. Not even the ad blocking. Do you know why? Because it relies on their secret API keys compiled into their own binary that allow their binary to communicate to their own servers that enable these features.

Dawg, congrats on the ballsiness here. You keep making up new and ever more outrageous shit. First the license (MPL) being "proprietary", now there's "secret API keys".
Really good stuff. I just have to ask what motivates you to make this kind of shit up?

Honestly, you're much better off using ungoogled-chromium, because Brave's functionality can be replicated with some well picked add-ons, and you won't have privacy conundrums and shitcoins forced into your mouth despite what Brave is advertised as.

I get it, you don't wanna move all your data to a new browser install, but you don't have to make excuses for yourself to keep using it.
