As much as I want to see some juicy hurricane footage, if you are in the path of this thing you should just leave and keep yourself safe. No amount of fun internet points is worth risking your life. I've been on the coast my whole life, when they actually start telling you to evacuate, it's guaranteed to be bad, but I've never in my life heard anyone describe a hurricane as being "close to the theoretical limit of strength" before.

I think the Ryan Hall YT channel will have storm chasers live on the ground tomorrow. If you just want to watch the wind and rain without commentary, you can check out FL511. Click the "Legend" button on the map and check the box for traffic cameras. Really interesting for watching the evacuations in real time, imo.

Prior to the thread being featured, it was a pretty informative thread. I check it again this morning and it’s 15 pages of arguing about whether or not Jews control the weather.

It's actually more like a couple people obviously trolling (which they shouldn't be doing, I'll admit) and many, many more people taking the bait. If you would all just ignore the trolls this thread would be a lot shorter.

There have been many people on Twitter/X since last night (and most of them don’t live in Florida), crying out that the $1k+ cost of a ticket is “price gouging”.

I mean, you can personally argue that a plane ticket out of an area like Tampa right now could be a necessity.

But these people tend to not realize that booking a last minute, one way ticket out of Tampa right now is going to be more expensive than usual.

Booking a last minute ticket is always more expensive.
