I blame the chuds saying it's not happening. They have angered Milton. He is coming for his stapler. It's a red streamline, he's had it for a long time, and it's his!

I never really paid much attention to stuff happening in the US for most of my life, so maybe I am wrong, but doesn't it feel like there's been A LOT of more horrible natural disasters and hurricanes? Or is this just normal for Floridians? I wonder if eventually some areas will just become uninhabitable because they will keep getting hit by storms and floods...

We are definitely not in the height Hurricanes, unless this season still has another monster to unleash. There have been 6 storms recorded in the Atlantic basin that have gone below 900mb. Two were in 2005, Wilma and Rita. Wilma being the lowest ever in the Atlantic.

Between 2003-2007 there were six powerful cat 5s. These six are all on the list of strongest ever in the Atlantic

There are just some years that are more active and unfortunately people are bound to be in the way.

So how badly would Disney/Universal be fucked if this tracks right through Orlando? Would it lose enough power to not trash the place once it's on land, or would its velocity end up keeping it strong and demolishing a fuckton of shit?

If anyone has any good youtubers that put a lot of interesting coverage on this please share it with me.

Guys, I'm not sure I see the big deal with this storm. Why does everybody need to evacuate? Who's scared of some rain and some wind? Nigga really fast wind is still just fucking wind. Flooding? I can swim I'm not black, no biggie. And if I see some debris coming I'll just move out of the way, duh. I have no stats to back this up but I feel like I'd be okay if I just went out there, what do you guys think?
Look on the bright side, at least something is happening for a change. Maybe work will even float to were I live and makes it easier to get there!

Also.for Kiwis saying they don't want to leave, you can literally just drive 30 minutes Inland south and east of Tampa and crash at a motel the day of the storm and you should be fine. You don't have to flee to Canada.
Or get on a bike if you can't do that.
I'm surprised predictions are still quite hard now, but Tampa getting wrecked is still on track.

It absolutely does. Hurricanes get their energy out of the sea surface, with all that heat and moisture. With a large portion of the storm over the comparatively dry Yucatan, especially at night, it's losing energy because it can't suck up any of that heat or moisture from land. Now that Milton's back over the toasty warm Gulf of Mexico we can expect it to reintensify somewhat.

The question now is how much strength he'll regain, or if he's gonna lose energy and speed as he approaches Florida.
Good surface temperature but not enough time. Had it avoided Mexico it could have sustained its cat 5. Now it’s cat 4. Gulf water can sustain but it’s not going back up to cat 5. Worse case scenario it hits at cat 3. I was already right about it going South. The forecasters are giving the greatest cost scenario to be on the safe side, but it’s clearly trending weaker than what’s being forecasted.

Ryan Hall is the king of this particular Sektur. He also has less obvious superchat grifting then others.

Ryan is probably my favorite of the weathertubers for basically that reason, he just seems to focus on the science and using information wisely to be prepared.
Direct Weather used to be a regular watch but last winter I noticed him really trending toward ALERT ALERT ALERT style content where it felt like his thumbnails and titles were just pure bait, he'd have a thumbnail of snow blanketing the entire east coast and the video itself would just discuss a few puffs of snow here or there, he really seems to have transitioned into clickbait content. So between the two these days I just stick with Ryan Hall.
