It takes longer to take it down. If you take it down, and the storm misses you, you are out a few weeks of construction time.

No. It's not. But it takes a couple days to take one down safely. It SHOULD have been taken down, but considering the general state of Florida, and the fact that there's probably a half dozen other cranes in service around the area, a good contractor would prioritize getting the cranes down with the highest risk in the time available.

Best practices is to fuck off out of the way and roll damages into the billions of other dollars in insurance claims. They can withstand a lot of wind. They're designed to. But Hurricane force winds? Naw. That shit's coming down in the next 12 hours.

My second apartment in Pensacola had flooding in the streets after a hurricane a few years ago, and niggas kept driving their fuckin' cars through it and killing their engines. This happened like five times in the span of two hours.

If this heading is maintained, landfall would be about 5 hours from now at Madeira Beach. He should still bend east before then, but he's cutting it close.
