Honestly I like the lack of state tax but once I save up for a house I'm thinking about fucking off northward again because my career can have me live anywhere now. The hurricanes aren't the reason though as they're really not as bad as you'd think. I've went to work during more than one of them. The heat making it impossible to breathe during certain months is the fuckery I just can't deal with.

Damn, that shit reminds me of hurricane juan back in september 2003. Ended up without power for 13 days and that was getting lucky. There were a few rural areas that took nearly a month to get the power and road access back up and running for. Parts of halifax looked like a war zone for an entire year and practically everybody with a pickup truck and a chainsaw was asked to help clear roads of fallen trees so emergency vehicles and such could get around. Everything was flooding in many towns and I literally saw sheets of metal roofing flying through the air, and ended up randomly coming across some over a year later in the woods that got dumped there by the storm. People went absolutely batshit on that one. But yeah, one thing I can say for NS is with the amount of hurricanes and major snow/ice storms they get there they have some of the best trained and experienced power and road crews in north america, which is likely why they sent out that convoy to florida before the storm. The governor did well in arranging for their help. Its good to see someone in the government knows what they're doing in situations like this
