Megathread Jesse Singal Derangement Syndrome - jsingal69 vs TroonWorld

Any information about the island near Seattle where her other house is? The entire premise sounds bizarre to me
That would be this postage stamp in Bremerton, currently valued at nearly half a mil because LOL Seattle. Bremerton is connected to Seattle via a ferry but it's not exactly remote.

Katie and Janna seem to have repainted the North Carolina fireplace green from its original Gentrification Gray. Not sure it's an improvement.

Further proof on NC: Katie mentioned that their real estate agent showed it to them while recovering from a bear attack.

I'm surprised that I've not heard about this incident before tbh, given the number of people that hate Jesse. I'm not a big social media user, but I keep my eye on it, and this is the first time I've heard of this.
There was actually some troon who was posting it in all of Jesse's replies for months on end demanding he "admit" it to his fans but when he took a break from Twitter they never resumed when he came back. Probably "quit" for Bluesky or something.

I think their extended argument they had pinned on their account was that Jesse is a hypocrite for wanting all troons murdered when his dad is a sex criminal or something.

The whole thing is fucking weird IMO.

Why is she helping to take care of a horrible old racist that she openly admits has committed crimes that would make your skin crawl? She referred to him as a pedo on the show, before then quickly saying that he's not one; well, what exactly are these crimes? She couldn't even name one of them on the show, even though the guy is nearly 90 and about to die. It must be something fucking awful.

I wouldn't write the letter for him. He's already fucked his son over by taking him out of his will over some trivial shit (the son was "slightly critical" of him), and now he wants to deliver a final blow to the guy as the last words he'll ever say to him, just for the sake of being hurtful. Fuck that. Also, if she dictates the letter and doesn't send it, that's shitty too IMO. Don't agree to do something if you're not going to follow through with it, cos the son has the right to read that letter, no matter what the content of it is.
Katie's a covert narcissist. I've met a few girls like her. They get into social work or elder care, say "yes" to anyone and everyone who asks them out on a date, and play this uwu quirky lighthearted/never serious ultra friendly bartender character 24/7. Anything she does is for attention, but not in a grandiose fashion. Everyone's just so obsessed with her for some reason!!

Anyone and everyone is a narcissist, apparently, if you listen to the Internet after the buzzwordification of pop psych.

Katie isn't into social work or elder care. It's her wife who's the nurse. She's poking her nose into this man's life for the same reason why we're all here: she loves drama. Also she seems lonely and bitter still after her old (majority queer) friends iced her out for transphobia, and making friends with a racist guy is both 1) a thumb of her nose against their "woke" values and 2) one of the only options she has left, or so she feels.

So much of Katie's behavior is elegantly explained as an ex-social butterfly struggling to cope with reputational ruin and exile from her original social circles. Cancellation fucked with her head more than it did with Jesse's because Katie has been perceived as funny/likable/cool her whole life, and it's dizzying to have that sort of experiential constant pulled from under your feet. (Jesse has always been a nerd.) Is it narcissism when you're a naturally, successfully social person suddenly cut off from society and this bothers you? I guess that's a judgment call. I don't find Katie pathologically egocentric — she just likes to be liked in the common way that humans do.

It's annoying that her sociality compromises her moral and ideological judgment as much as it does — I cannot stand her fawning over Bari "idpol is evil except when Israel" Weiss — but in that she's no better or worse than most people.

I completely agree. I've only had a few online acquaintances cut me off once they've found out my views on certain topics - mainly trans shit - but nobody that I would call a friend, and nobody I know IRL.

Katie had IRL friends cut her off/ghost her, including co-workers. She had people putting up nasty posters/stickers about her. All of that while she was witnessing the lesbian community getting fucked over by hideous attention-seeking troons. That shit has got to hurt, especially as it's yet another case of "what did this person actually do/say that's so bad?".

Both attorneys, quite high-powered. The father was popped for solicitation a couple years ago, I believe shortly after Jesse's mother passed.
Sounds like he either went nuts after his wife passed away, or his wife was the only thing stopping him from doing things like this. Many such cases unfortunately.

Alejandra Caraballo brought it up on Twitter but deleted it later, IIRC.
Jesus Christ. Troons act like they're so high and mighty, yet he's literally taking a page out of our playbook. I'm amazed that Jesse still manages to take the high road in situations like this. Or, second-highest road, since I'd argue the one thing better than reacting with a level head is to not react at all.

Moose in 2020, Washington house in 2019.
They made the right call on replacing the carpet with laminate, it looks much better.

Does anyone get the feeling that Katie is experiencing nigger fatigue? She is in a very pleasant neighborhood, but the way she talked about wanting to live far away from "people" in the latest bonus episode reminds me a lot of how people talk when they no longer feel safe because they saw some blacks pulling a Trayvon and scoping out houses for Amazon packages or are forced to sleep with their windows closed because there are nogs ooking and eeking nearby at midnight on a Wednesday.

A recent influx of nogs would also tank the value of a house - that, and not the condition of the floors, may explain why it was affordable.

The only alternatuve is methheads, but talking shit about whites is praiseworthy in her milieu and there would be no need to hide her disdain. Methheads are also still a problem in rural areas, whereas nogs mainly hunt in or near cities which they can disappear into after committing a crime.

It doesn’t have to be that, and press X to doubt it’s that simple. She has been saying for years
  • she has become far more introverted as she ages and post-cancellation
  • the west coast home has a lot of veterans, serving military and patriotic migrants who celebrate July 4th with lots of fireworks which freak out poor Moose
  • she worries about more development spoiling her views.
Her leisure activities are hiking, foraging for mushrooms and the like. Her professional ones are writing and podcasting. White progressive people are the ones who really fucked her over, not black people (and this is the PNW, not Southside Chicago, so it’s pretty white). She moved away to avoid them, but maybe they’re still too close. She’s wealthier now to move to a whiter area if she really wants to, but why would she if she can live more cheaply and happily away from them?

We still like you Katie ❤️

Literally none of this applies to her, though. She doesn't work in nursing, that's her wife's job. She's only mentioned a couple of exes (there was an Asian one I think) and she's been married for several years now. She's also somewhat reclusive and isn't as eager to do live shows as Jesse, who genuinely enjoys mingling with fans; if anyone's "ultra-friendly," it's him. You're just projecting the traits of some random women from your life (exes it sounds like) onto her. Also, there are definitely times where she's serious (notably in almost any show where animal cruelty comes up.)

You don't have to make shit up to criticize her, you know. There are plenty of provably true things you can dislike about her. Just off the top of my head, I personally don't agree with her stances on CSEM, generative AI, preferred pronouns, or dog breeding. I'm willing to overlook those things because I don't expect the hosts of a show I listen to or watch to have stances 100% identical to my own.

I know, I used that phrase just to describe how she's gotten into caring for the neighbour. Making noise about helping people might have been better phrasing. And I know she is married now, but the characteristics I listed were just general examples of what someone like that does in their 20s. Her weird dog ball obsession is confusing to me too. Like this intrepid reporter/super helpful persona but it's just a ploy for attention, and always focused on the latest trendy thing/hashtag? I don't know, she just acts like so many cluster B hipster lesbians you meet at the college bars.

This latest episode sucked. Wow, you're telling me that booktok/booktwitter authors who identify as neurodivergent don't have great coping skills? And the books they churn out, assembly line-style, are kind of silly? How many episodes have already covered this? Just felt lazy. Katie didn't bother to read any of the books, Jesse just kept saying how stupid it all was, nothing new, I'm a retard for paying for this shit.

They need to do more episodes about authors and the publishing world.

The duality of the JSDS thread

If Jesse wasn't mates with Taylor Lorenz, this would be a great B&R segment. They were literally just talking about the Casey Newton Substack story on the latest episode and Lorenz was one of the people spreading the idea that there was a "Nazi problem" (a grand total of 6 white supremacists were using the platform, and were removed by Substack mods). And now that she has no place else to go, it's deemed fine.
Yep. There was a concerted push by several journalists (including Taylor Lorenz) at the start of this year to smear Substack as a Nazi / far-right platform.
See: https://www.google.com/search?q=substack+"nazi+problem"
Very ironic that she's come crawling back to it now.

TayTay co-wrote this article in particular: https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2024/01/11/substack-platformer-nazis/ [Archive]

I did some searching, and I found her explaining last month why she's still on Substack despite the "Nazi problem":

Pretty weak, IMO.

Also, lol:

For anyone unaware, the Washington Post started an investigation into TayTay's actions in August after she called Biden a war criminal and then tried to lie about it being fake/edited. This is probably the reason why she was fired (on top of WaPo likely being sick of her Covid hysteria).

This latest was prerecorded, everything in it except for the intro (I think) is old news. It's also conceivable that Jesse made a very cringe pass at her at some point and he doesn't want her getting out those receipts that Brianna Wu was unable to find.
