Which is why so many people hate that Newt and Hicks were killed off before Alien 3 even began. It ruined the family dynamic a lot of people found appealing amid such a bleak and desolate landscape. While I liked Alien 3 I think it never should have happened.
I'm a huge fan of Dark Horses old Aliens comics and the initial run was the better sequel to Aliens than 3 with an older Hicks and Newt suffering PTSD from their xeno encounter before having to over come their fear and face the monsters head on again.

Ripley is out of the action for the most part until she returns towards the end with the most over the top duck taped gun combo yet which felt earned by that point.

I believe DH used one of the many unused Alien 3 scripts too, but future reprints would change Newts and Hicks name and backstory as survivors of a different Alien out break and Ripley might of been retconned to be a clone iirc.

(Do love me some Alien 3 Assembly Cut though and have nostalgia for theatrical cut from my mom showing it to me when I was in the third grade. Plus awesome movie score, one of my faves).

Do people even pay attention to Kotaku nowadays?
That's what I keep wondering is how exactly are they able to stay afloat? If it wasn't for the retarded hit pieces and writers they employee, I'd forget all about them and even then it's not like I go to their website.

It's like what happened for me with gamespot and IGN. I've practically forgot they exist as a "news" site and figured they're just glorified game trailer channels on YouTube until all that RE5 and monkey game drama this year.

They put out a graphic novel adaptation of the unused screenplay for Alien 3 that William Gibson wrote, but it is out of print and expensive as hell now, sadly.

XOXO Fest is an echo chamber. It's no surprise that she tried to paint herself as the victim when the larger community collectively has had enough of her bullshit.

I've never even heard of this event before, and looking at it's official site yeah this was a faggot & fat girl hugbox through and through. Fitting that sbi shows up the same year the event dies.

While I liked Alien 3 I think it never should have happened. Aliens should have closed it out. Alien 3's ending is too much like Terminator 2's and went through way too many rewrites.
I liked Alien 3 and its overall extremely downtempo ambiance and pessimistic outlook, but I agree, not just because of the ending but because it made 4 possible, which was an atrocious blemish on Jeunet's otherwise impeccable filmography and on the Alien franchise in general.

I read it and wasn't too impressed, mostly because of the art and page layouts. Much perfer the old school gritty Heavy Metal style art in the early Dark Horse comics.

Did dig the xeno virus thing causing people's entire bodies to mutate and explode with a full blown xenomorph. Would of made for a pretty sick scene made with the top tier practical effects of the early 90s.

Yeah, when I read that his script was rejected by Fox for being too expensive for their liking to film with all the FX really bummed me out back in the day.

The closest they got was forcing the game industry's hand into forming the ESRB, because if they hadn't they would have had a group formed for them by the government.
Nope, that specifically was done in response to Democrat Joe Lieberman, an Orthodox Jew, wanting to pass laws in Congress to regulate the industry.

You may remember him as Al Gore's running mate in 2000. Gore's wife was allied with Lieberman on this; the Dems in 2000 especially were basically an anti-vidya ticket, but you would have never known from the gaming press because they were all in the tank for Dems.

Joe Lieberman and Tipper Gore are specifically why I didn't vote for Al in 2000. Lieberman is a repulsive, sanctimonious hypocritical cunt and Tipper is, well, Tipper. Two people who bodyslammed those two cunts are Frank Zappa and, of all people, Dee Snider. They really hit it out of the park in those hearings.

Fun fact: Jack Thompson is still seething about vidya but nobody cares, and he is a registered Democrat who voted for Biden.

I do find it really funny that the people who raged against Jack Thompson in 2008 basically agreed with his premiss that games cause real life crimes by 2014. All they disagreed on was the crime in question was. School shootings or rape of women. All these journoscum we dealing with today now use the same argument as he did. Only with a leftist feminist bend on it.

You're right, I forgot it was Lieberman.

That's just the only way how she could stay somewhat relevant.

Only when they do something stupid.

Thompson was an embodiment of a trend that got exploited ruthlessly during this time:

While it was the Dems pushing shit like FEPA (Hillary's failed bid to put video games under the control of the FCC via federal bill that essentially would have done which several states had passed, found unconstitutional, and subsequently had already overturned - including California), it was shitheads like Thompson who fucking ate all of the aggro that otherwise would have gotten directed their way. Amazing how that always seems to work.

One side doing the actual heinous shit, the other doing what they could to ensure nobody was paying attention to it. Couldn't have been more carefully orchestrated.

This isn't to say there weren't right-wing attempts at similar around this time - the Video Game Decency Act coming to mind - but the overpowering majority of the time was the Dems pushing legit policy changes that would have been sweeping and destructive (and had been struck down as unconstitutional already in several cases as mentioned) while dumbass righties of the time happily provided covering fire the entire fucking time, and when the initial attempts at the time failed, they were the ones left holding the bag.

Makes me wonder exactly how many of them were being paid off. Wouldn't fucking be the first time, certainly not the last, either.
