I think it's a weird culmination of factors.

Patraxx is actually an adult, so you can't "correct" them like a kid and not expect the cops to show up (raxx calls the cops at the drop of a hat, so it's a given he'd call the cops if Edroy popped him).

Sally's weirdly overprotective nature over her goblin, so if Ed were to try, she'd get in the middle of it. I don't think she'd call the cops over it, but there'd definitely be drama.

Percs. Ed's probably able to sleep through the nighttime bullshit because of them, and he's got a nice fuzzy blanket wrapped around him when he's awake, so he doesn't care as much.

Back/neck/shoulder surgery from a lifetime of labor. (Not sure what was actually corrected here, think it was upper back/neck). That shit hurts, even after the surgery and initial healing is done.
