People have been saying that for the past couple of years or maybe even a decade. Wake me up when it finally does happen.I honestly think we're in the middle of, or at the least, at the very start of a video game crash.
The collapse of an empire takes minutes to read about, and centuries to live through.People have been saying that for the past couple of years or maybe even a decade. Wake me up when it finally does happen.

Its bleeding out.I honestly think we're in the middle of, or at the least, at the very start of a video game crash.
We're in interesting times, at least. I would liken it to the period from the early 90s to the turn of the century where the industry was settling into the new PlayStation paradigm of optical disc media and 3D graphics. Not a crash, but a pretty bloody business -- NEC totally gone, Sega destroyed as a hardware player, Nintendo knocked into second place, Sony going from zero to dominance in about three years, 3DO and other wanna-bes roadkilled. That PlayStation paradigm isn't going to survive the decade. We'll see who dies along with it.I honestly think we're in the middle of, or at the least, at the very start of a video game crash.
Its bleeding out.
The economy can't support adult daycare and the companies are having to cut a lot of them.
This shit isn't immediate or fast.
But ubisoft is basically done - bought up by China I'd wager if the new AC fails. That's proof enough.
Bioware is going to be dead in a few months..
Blizzard released a 40 dollar expansion for diablo 4 that no one likes and no one is buying.
Bethesda released a slop expansion for starfield no one likes.
They're hurting, have no doubt. They're hurting and if they can't fix it soon next 2 years are gonna be interesting.
God I hope so.I honestly think we're in the middle of, or at the least, at the very start of a video game crash.
Even if they COULD fix what's wrong with the overall industry, they won't. From the rumblings few private devs have been leaking to the general public, most are generally afraid to speak out or put their job on the line due to the threat of being "cancelled". Being seen as a Bigot, or a Racist, or a Homophobe as a "bad thing" is still very prevalent amongst corpos and their dick sucking simps (Despite assertions of such being utter bullshit, but never underestimate how fucking stupid a lot of the general public is, a good majority of these people voted for Biden).
We all KNOW what's wrong with the industry. We've known since (I'd argue) about 2014. The, "gamers are dead" / "gamers don't have to be your audience" articles was evidence enough that the industry was in the very beginnings of a collapse. That shit was coordinated, and I refuse to believe it was just a "coincidence". These people aren't going to be able to fix what's wrong over a short period of time. Sweet Baby Inc's main goal was to burn the industry to the ground? I'd dare say they've largely succeeded.
Developers and studios got complacent. They allowed (very obvious) wolves into the hen house, and they have no one to blame but themselves.
If I had to place us in a timeline, I would say we are at the point just before the collapse begins accelerating rapidly. Expect things to go into overdrive when the first AAA developer (propably Ubisoft) goes down/is bought and the rest recognise their mortality (5 stages of grief and shit).God I hope so.
I think that shows that they are rattled. The whole industry is rattled by shitposters, who have proven word of mouth can make your Fink bucks go in to a fire. Saying the phrase "this games has DEI" is now a stink bomb and also a call to action that does real damage to a company now. Asmongold, love him or hate him i don't care. Can say a game sucks and dunk on the gender blobs and fat blacks and wipe $50m at least off your profit. If you have a twitter account, it may be a good idea to request a community note on the CD Projekt guy's tweet as well as this one: https://x.com/pcgamer/status/1845143069848400009
Considering how hard CD Projekt was shilling DEI and now they're trying to call it all a 'conspiracy theory'. It's fairly easily debunkable just looking at the responses.
It's more to do with investor money drying up imo. We need an economic crash and not just a video game one. We can get rid of these creatures from every creative space.I think that shows that they are rattled. Think about it, this guy tried to lie in an obvious way and got disproved in seconds. It hardly says cool in control string pulling to me. Normally a lion does not care for the opinions of a sheep. But now with Ubisoft trying to get the shitposters to stop by walking back the activist talk("We are an entertainment company"). Sweet baby nuking their internet presence, it is bad PR that now everyone is aware off and moving away from them.
The company's will not outright say it. They will just stop picking up the phone when they call, to do their usual racial extortion attempts.
The battle isn't won. But fuck are they bleeding right now.
That is a factor. But as they have just shown, they can't ignore it anymore. Their activists like Aylissa and the rest of the journoscum would be smug posting instead of having melty's every 5 seconds now. It's more to do with investor money drying up imo.

The best way I've seen it put is that collapse happens very, very slowly, then all at once. In the case of the USSR for example, food slowly became more scarce, streets slowly became more dirty, roads slowly stopped being maintained, and when it did it took progressively longer to maintain a shorter road. Trains, buses, planes all slowly start arriving late and the longer time goes on the more the average time they're late grows. Then one day you suddenly find out that the USSR doesn't exist anymore.Rome didn't collapse in a day.
And he'd still be a lawyer if he had stuck to attacking unknown rappers making party music in Miami because no one would have cared he pointed his evil towards poor blacks.Fun fact: Jack Thompson is still seething about vidya but nobody cares, and he is a registered Democrat who voted for Biden.
It's basically those Discord groups where you only have "positive vibes" going on and people are so sensitive and afraid of speaking up, while people have the - heh - chutzpah of saying they have "never found such a supporive group like (said group)".The toxic positivity stuff reminds me of that Twilight Zone episode where if you think bad thoughts or say bad things to the evil kid you're toast. They've got people so scared to speak up that no one can really start the ball rolling on positive changes. We've got devs having tantrums over being criticized. Yeah no one feels bad for you because you are making an ass out of yourselves on social media.
The whole gamers are dead thing was ridiculous. They tried to turn "Gamer" into a dirty word when it's just a name to describe the hobby of gaming. It's very pot meets kettle. They complained about toxic gamers but they themselves are leagues more toxic and hateful.
