US Man arrested near Trump rally in Coachella with loaded firearm, high-capacity magazine - According to the sheriff's department, the incident did not impact the safety of former President Trump or attendees of the event.

A 49-year-old Las Vegas man was arrested near former President Donald Trump's rally in Coachella on Saturday with a loaded firearm and a high-capacity magazine, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said Sunday.

Deputies assigned to the rally contacted the driver of a black SUV at a checkpoint near the intersection of Avenue 52 and Celebration Drive just before 5 p.m. Saturday, sheriff's officials said.

They allegedly found the driver in possession of a shotgun, a loaded handgun and a high-capacity magazine. The driver was identified as Vem Miller, and was taken into custody and later booked at the John J. Benoit Detention Center on suspicion of possessing a loaded firearm and possessing a high-capacity magazine.

Miller was released Saturday on $5,000 bail, and was scheduled to appear at the Indio Larson Justice Center on Jan. 2, 2025, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department inmate database.

According to the sheriff's department, the incident did not impact the safety of former President Trump or attendees of the event.

Anyone with additional information was encouraged to contact Deputy Coronado at 760-836-1600.

He is getting off very light so far. Any socials?

How many times has this been, now? Not just on assassination attempts this year; I'm talking about prior incidents when Trump was in office. Wasn't there a point where a guy actually broke into the White House and forced the president into a panic room? Also, pretty sure the woketards caused a few riots which necessitated a few lockdowns as well. Or am I mistaken?

No, seriously, am I wrong? My memory has gotten pretty shit these past few years; whole Covid thing REALLY screwed up my sense of time.

It's in the politics general thread. I think this guy is getting media-framed (not even law-framed).

Suspect Vem Miller appears to be a "real character" as we say in the business.

The problem is, the arrest was last night, I heard about it from "BREAKING" sources 4 minutes ago, and it's already pretty much DFE-ed. And the Wayback Machine, as we all know, is down.

We gotta spread out the work load- help me save as much as we can, Kiwis.

The article linked above mentions that the suspect went to UCLA. Sounds like a left-wing Hollywood type.

At least it seems that they have become effective at doing their jobs, there is clearly some good people protecting Trump now. That said, 5K bail? For someone who supposedly admitted to wanting to kill the President, had the means to do so and was near where Trump was?

I wonder if he wasn't heading to the rally and forgot he had the guns in his car. If you live near a state border, it's not hard to cross without thinking. And I'd bet a good sum that Nevada's gun laws are a lot laxer than California's.

None of this says that he was trying to assassinate him. Is it possible that he just had the firearms on him, and the cops jumped on it anyway?

There are some articles stating that he had VIP passes and that, because they were fake and he had guns on him, they concluded that his intention was to kill the President.

Of course, I take all with a grain of salt due to how fucking weird this is.

They're really doing everything they can to muddy the waters after the honest to God chance they took on killing him the first time.

Go back to sleep goy, this happens all the time and that first one was just a freak accident that we didn't completely orchestrate. Just like Seth Rich was totally murdered in a robbery. Shhhhh you're sleepy. Hush now honey child.

The high-capacity magazine charge won’t stick for reasons I explained in the Politics thread. Possession of a loaded gun in a car is a minor offense. He will likely just have to pay a fine. In California, you have to have the gun unloaded and in a locked compartment, trunk, or locked case while driving. The ammunition can be in the same case.

It could be a juicy 2nd amendment case if he had a Nevada CCL, but I think Nevada has open carry anyway.

What's weird is that they always happen on a Sunday. They always happen around the same exact time.

Every time it happens, I go to the market, talk to the same vendor. "Another assassination attempt, they always happen on Sundays at around this time." He gives me an uneasy smile.

If this one is legit, that makes three official assassination attempts and potentially four if you include the chemical attack that happened on a stage in Arizona.
