There's nothing to say he's still there, the Northern Irish border is merely a line on a map right now, he can easily travel over it to wherever he wants on the ISLAND. He could find some other abused ladyboys or faggy students in a liberal urban centre and bunk with them, I imagine that would be quite easy to do when you're one of them.
I really don't want to re-ignite the faggy argument over borders, but I think it might be a little more complicated than that when Southern Ireland isn't part of the UK; especially post-Brexit they're more tight-arsed about people just wandering in.
Sorry I specifically meant travelling by land over the border between Northern and Southern Ireland. Once you're already on the island there's nothing stopping you from going anywhere else on it, border be damned. I've done it. Some official resources might insist you can't or shouldn't but Irish public services are impotent at best.
That's because Ireland and the UK are in the CTA (Common Travel Area), so there's free movement between both countries. Despite being in the EU, Ireland isn't a part of Schengen (EU's free-movement zone) because of Brexit (free movement with the UK is more important, both politically and economically, to Ireland than it is with the rest of the EU), so an Irish citizen can move freely to a non-EU country (UK) being an EU citizen, but can't move freely to another EU country via Schengen. There needs to be other bilateral or multilateral travel agreements regarding free movement for it to be possible.
