Were the Germans putting in the effort to gas and cook 6 gorrillion Jews while at war with the worlds strongest nations? Prolly not.
Did the internment camps get less supplies and probably have not the most competent/moral personnel late in the war? Probable.
Did Western soldiers see the aftermath of a camp that was low on supplies and of low strategic value with emaciated and dead/dying Jews (and other civilian POWs)? Yes.
Have stories of these camps get blown outta proportion by media, governments (US and USSR), and other interested parties to gain sympathy for a Jewish state (Israel) and to garner more support for the need to stop National Socialism? Most likely.
Does it matter for people today? It shouldn't. There have been many more massacres and 'genocides' worse than the real numbers of the Holocaust but it's still used in imagery to shun people from diverting from Western Liberal Capitalism.

SO, it doesn't matter if it did happen or not. The current world order depends on it being an undeniable truth even if it is or isn't. Don't worry about it. It will lose its power over people like other "undeniable truths" in the past.

There won't be mass graves if you let corpses rot, all the organic material will decompose leaving the bones and dried skin. Easy to burn.
